i got my ring and my finger is swollen. Help!!! 1Hello ladies! I need your help. I got sized for my ring a few months back and my now fiancé put it on me with my eyes closed and it fit perfectly!!
Now we got engaged two days ago and it was difficult to get it over my knuckle. I’m very upset because I don’t know what to do. If I get a size bigger it would be too big for my finger as you can see below. But it’s still super hard to take it off as my knuckle seems to have grown????
What should I do? Smiley sad

Do you have a habit to crack your knuckles? That could make your knuckles bigger.

So your jeweler should be able to attach little balls on the underside of your ring. They are made to easily get the ring over your knuckle but not have the ring spin when you are wearing it. The nice thing is they are easily removable too if you ever want to leave your ring a little bigger.

I have them now and love it. It’s also better for your ring then having it resized multiple times throughout life.

I struggle to get my rings off over my knuckles, but have plenty of room down on the finger (I have arthritis and *huge* knuckles). Is it uncomfortable to get on and off or are you just foreseeing a time when you don't think you'll be able to get over the knuckle? (My FIL can't take his band off at ALL, though there is a trick if he ever absolutely *has* to.) If it's uncomfortable to get on and off, then maybe you could get it sized up a quarter or half a size and get a sizer thing so it doesn't spin?

Is it tight consistently throughout the day? Or does is fluctuate where it seems tight sometimes and others not so much? It is possible that it's water retention. My size changes depending on different factors like exercise, what I've eaten and especially weather. When I'm warmer my ring fits perfect and when I'm cold it looks like your 2nd pic. I got a rubber insert I slip right on for when it gets a little loose.

It is definitely uncomfortable to get on and off, but it wasn’t a few months ago, that’s why I’m concerned...I was thinking maybe it’s water retention or something? It fit perfectly before and it’s perfect around my finger, it just my knuckle making it hard to put on and remove.
Didn’t know about sizers. Maybe I should do that.

It’s not tight at all around my finger, it fits great there, doesn’t spin too much and it feel comfortable (like my 2 picture). The problem is when I try to get it off. Doesn’t come out easily at all. Gets very tight around my knuckle and I need to put soap on my finger to be able to remove it.
It wasn’t like that at all when I first tried it on and I never really wore rings before so I didn’t know this was a thing Smiley sad
I was thinking maybe it’s water retention but if it is...will it be like this always? Should I really make it bigger or will it fit perfectly again?

If it is water retention then it shouldn't be that tight always. I'd keep an eye on it for a few days and try taking it off at different times throughout the day and seeing if there are times where it comes off a little easier. Then kind of go from there. If it doesn't get better at all, or you take your ring off often and don't want to deal with it being tight at time, then I would go ahead and see if they can add a sizer to it to help it get over the knuckle. I wouldn't change the size again if it fits perfect once it's on.

I would definitely look into getting it made *slightly* bigger and getting a sizer. Have your habits changed over the last couple months? It seems very odd that your knuckle would swell for no reason at all. Honestly, I would keep an eye on it, and if it gets worse/doesn't go down at all (or even fluctuate to smaller during the day) I might give my doctor a quick call and just make sure there's no need to come in.

Does it leave an indent in your finger while it’s on? If not, it’s not too tight. It should be difficult to get it over your knuckle, otherwise it’ll just fall off!

Take your ring to a local independent jeweler. They can modify your ring in a number of ways so it can fit over knuckle better. Some designs even open the band up

Purchase a ring guard if you don't wanna get it sized again.

Why can’t you just keep it on all the time? I wear 2 rings constantly.. when baking or needing with hands i either run my hands under cold water to help get the ring off, or use a tiny but of lotion to pull it off,
