i fell in love with the dress but.....

I absolutely fell in love with the dress and couldn't picture myself in anything else. Pictures don't do it justice because it actually sparkles in the light and I had never seen another dress like it so I bought it. Well now I'm thinking how hard it's going to be to have a wedding in Mexico in May in this mermaid dress. Surprisingly it's not as heavy as you'd think but I can imagine it being hot since there's little airflow. I looked at beachy wedding dress but they just didn't fit my personality. Has anyone else had an experience like this? In the end, I'll suck it up to keep my dream dress but I will need alternations done. The dress is about 6 inches too long for me. Anything I can do during alternations to make it not so hard to sit in or so hot?
