I feel like a wedding would be pointless

So I've been engaged for 6 months now (our engagement will be 2 years long) and we are still trying to find a venue, which really stresses me out. But sometimes I get really frustrated because I feel like why should we be spending tons of money on something that no one is really going to care about?...

But sometimes I get really frustrated because I feel like why should we be spending tons of money on something that no one is really going to care about? My fiance and I do not know a lot of people. Our wedding would only have about 50 guests. Also, we are not having anyone in the wedding party because most of my former friends and I have drifted apart and I have no close friends anymore. His family doesn't even seem interested in the wedding and the only one that is very interested at all is my mom. I love my mom and I love her for all she is doing for us, but even she gives me the feeling sometimes that it just isn't even worth having a wedding for 50 people that we aren't even very close to. The whole wedding planning process is making me depressed...does anyone else feel kind of like that? If so, how do you deal with it?

You know I think a lot of us go thru that and then we change our minds. We *think* we know what want and then we see something totally different. You say you want a winter wedding, maybe consider moving it to another time of year, see if that doesn't open some other venues. It could possibly give you some other options. I was the same way as you. I really wanted a beach wedding, but couldn't find anything that I was totally happy with. Then we ended up moving the date to 4 days before Halloween, a full moon and now we're doing a Halloween themed wedding in an old Historical park with a western flair. And I couldn't be happier!!!! This fits the two of us to a "T". The sunset beach theme seems to get done a lot and didn't fit our personalities like this one does. Now I can have my haybales for seating and go all out with spooky decorations, a black dress, black roses - you name it! We also are only having about 50 people. So even a small isn't pointless. They can be more fun and intimate

So I definitely understand where you're coming from.

I didn't want a wedding until my fiance really convinced me.

We've been engaged since January, will marry in March and now I'm super excited for the wedding, but it did take time to get to the idea of spending all that money.

If both you and your fiance feel the same, I would suggest that you not have a wedding. If it were me I would probably still but a nice, inexpensive dress for the ceremony (if you do it at a hall) and still make sure to take pictures cuz you will always want to remember the day.

I think just spending money on a honeymoon would be worth it, cuz I'm sure you guys will really enjoy that.
