I live in new york and this is seriously such a hot spot with the virus! It seems to be spreading like wild fire which is getting me so anxious! My wedding date is August 8th which is about 4 months away but I don’t know how this will all play out. Should i be safe and move it now or pay for everything just for it to be canceled???

Im in NYC too. I would call/email my vendors and have a back up date ready. I think you should be fine in August. The virus doesn’t do well in heat and this should be the worst of it now. If you have a back up date they’ll probably give you 30 days before your initial date to move your event to your back up date depending on what the state mandates on social gatherings are at that point. But I really think a date in August will be okay. Sending positive vibes your way.

I would definitely start looking at other options.

I think so long as your guest list isn't huge - under 100 ' you should be ok. We postponed our April wedding to August, so I really think you'll be ok by that point! Breathe! I know it's really hard to stay positive with everything going on, but there's still a lot of time. You just have to plan for postponing but hang on until things settle some more.

I think you will be ok in August. We are in September and things are starting to look better. If it would help do what PP said and come up with a back up plan or date.

It’s so hard to say I’m July and also in New York people are already saying they won’t feel comfortable in July because it’s so soon after restrictions could be lifted. I would agree have a back up date my back up date is now in the fall and then just continue to monitor it.

We're getting married on August 8th too, but in Oregon. I really am stressing out. I know that nobody has a crystal ball and can't tell us exactly what the future holds, but it's just so stressful having everything up in the air. I don't want to have a plan B even though I know I need to. My FH doesn't understand, I feel like he thinks it's not a big deal and that I'm overreacting for feeling the way I feel. I just want this virus to be gone.

Hi Shaqayiq! Like McKenzie said - it's so hard because no one knows exactly what the future holds right now!

If the uncertainty is too much to handle right now, then you should do what feels most comfortable for you and consider proactively postponing for peace of mind. You can also take more time and keep monitoring things through May. By end of May / early June it should hopefully be much clearer what August will look like!
