I have this best friend who NEVER asks for anything. NEVER. We have been best friends for 4 years. She helped me as a single mom. She is like my 2nd mother. She raised me when my own mother didnt. I have this best friend who NEVER asks for anything. NEVER. We have been best friends for 4 years. She helped me as a single mom. She is like my 2nd mother. She raised me when my own mother didnt.

Anyway. Last night i got a frantic call from her. Her cat was screaming. (I mean SCREAMING) in pain. It was horrific.

So we both tried figuring out what was wrong with the cat. (Maybe constipation)

Nope.

At 7pm at night the cat starting bleeding very heavily. Then the cat wasnt moving much.

So she rushed the cat to the vet.

However she didnt know there was a thing called pet insurance.
(First time pet owner. ❤)

So off to the vet. The doctor got concerned because the bleeding wouldnt stop.

So we found out it was a lethal (blocked urinary tract)

The bill turned from 200$ to 860$

And the vet held the cat hostage until we paid.

I had the money in my wedding savings.
I handed it over.......

What did you expect me to do? Let the cat suffer and die? NO My best friend and that cat is my family. She promised to pay me back. (Which she is great on her word)

Is it normal to feel a tiny bit upset?

No I dont feel ill feelings towards her or the cat.

Im just.......

It was hard earned savings for my perfect wedding.

But I handed it over to save a life! And i would do it all over again for them.

But my Bridezilla side is hopping mad at my reasonable side.

La Sigh!

Was I in the wrong?

Don't let that bog you down! I think it's normal and natural human instinct to have those feelings! The fact that you did the right thing and that you feel guilty shows that you're a good person!

You were right to use the money. She is someone you have always been able to my on. It is a two way street. You did the right thing to show she was right to invest the care and emotion she did in you, over time. I hope she makes it a priority to pay you back. We paid for our wedding exclusively with money from extra shifts worked. So I know it must have been a tough choice. But good for you .

Like you said, you would do it again. Hopefully she pays you back in time for the wedding. Bless you for putting your friend and her family member as the priority. I'm sure that you as solid as you were before, she is grateful to you for life. Putting out those good vibes into the world will return dividends to you if even for your soul. Go visit that kitty and remind yourself how much it was worth it. Poor lil kitty. Money comes and goes. It's the relationships/love for people that is most important. Things will work out for you and your wedding. God bless you.

You did the right thing and I can see how it feels panicky at the same time since it was a lot of $ for your wedding and you're hoping she comes thru to pay it

I should have mentioned this...my sister's cat's vet suggested she get a "bloomer cut" every now and then. Cricket (the cat Smiley winking ) has REALLY long fur and keeping it trimmed "down there" has helped a lot. Cricket always has an attitude for a day or so after getting trimmed like she's embarrassed or whatever, but it is what it is, she gets over it Smiley laugh

If your friend's cat has long fur, this might be an option to help stave off a recurrence.

That was incredibly kind and generous of you. Watching your cat suffer from a blocked urinary tract is absolutely horrific. If she loves her cat as much as we love ours, she’ll never ever forget what you did. I think it’s normal to feel upset - you had a perfect wedding in mind! And it sounds like you’ll still have it, it’s just a little discouraging at the moment to find yourself without the money. Cheer up Smiley smile your friendship and the life of that little furry baby are infinitely more important, and you gave her the money so I know you know that too. Acknowledge that you feel sad about it and don’t judge yourself for it. You’re a great person Smiley smile

Also, mention to her that if he (I think you said it was a male?) eats too much fish related food (either nibble or wet food), she may wanna consider cutting down and replacing it with chicken or turkey or rabbit. Male cats, especially, can suffer from that if they have too much fish in their diet because it crystallizes in their urine and they can’t pee. Just a tip!

The cat only accepts dry food. It refuses wet food. I dont know the flavor. The vet told her to buy a Urinary Diet food. 🤷🏾‍♀️
    Thank you for the tip!!!!
