i don't have a title for this one. (the "cat-icles" of Traci)????

I have this best friend who NEVER asks for anything. NEVER. We have been best friends for 4 years. She helped me as a single mom. She is like my 2nd mother. She raised me when my own mother didnt.

Anyway. Last night i got a frantic call from her. Her cat was screaming. (I mean SCREAMING) in pain. It was horrific.

So we both tried figuring out what was wrong with the cat. (Maybe constipation)

Nope.

At 7pm at night the cat starting bleeding very heavily. Then the cat wasnt moving much.

So she rushed the cat to the vet.

However she didnt know there was a thing called pet insurance.
(First time pet owner. ❤)

So off to the vet. The doctor got concerned because the bleeding wouldnt stop.

So we found out it was a lethal (blocked urinary tract)

The bill turned from 200$ to 860$

And the vet held the cat hostage until we paid.

I had the money in my wedding savings.
I handed it over.......

What did you expect me to do? Let the cat suffer and die? NO My best friend and that cat is my family. She promised to pay me back. (Which she is great on her word)

Is it normal to feel a tiny bit upset?

No I dont feel ill feelings towards her or the cat.

Im just.......

It was hard earned savings for my perfect wedding.

But I handed it over to save a life! And i would do it all over again for them.

But my Bridezilla side is hopping mad at my reasonable side.

La Sigh!

Was I in the wrong?

I would say you did the right thing. You went with your heart. From the sound of it your best friend has been there for you in times of need and now you have done the same. It is always hard to part with money, especially your wedding savings. You said you would do it all over again so we all know where your heart is. Money comes and goes but good friends don't.

Hello btb Traci, bridezilla think aside, You did an honorable thing for a friend who's like a mom and has been there for you and it should be a good feeling to have helped her save her cats life who was suffering. She gave you her word that she will pay you back. I'm bias because I'm a cat lover hence my avatar. I'm sure she realizes you are saving for your wedding and if not in cash she pays you back, perhaps she can pay for the items on your list at the time it is due. You are what a Real friend is all about.🌹. Blessings begat blessings.

There are some things in life that are more important than a wedding, friendships being one of them. The good thing is the cat will be back to normal in no time and you have 2 years to recoup the money! Tax time is right around the corner, so maybe she will have some extra funds then.

I think what you did is very honorable. As a cat owner myself, that had to be an awful feeling for her, to know that her cat was suffering but not have the money herself to do something about it, and you were able to save her cat’s life. You said that she’s good for her word, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I know parting with money is hard, but friends and family are so much more important than any wedding. And if you hadn’t done it and the cat had died, it sounds like you would regret not helping so much more.

That was a very kind and generous thing to do. You did what people are always preaching on here: be a friend first. You definitely stepped up, and you have nothing to feel guilty for. It looks like you have plenty of time to recoup your money.

Just feel good that you stopped the kitty's suffering, and probably saved it's life!! Great job!!

It sounds like she is a good friend and will pay you back! It's okay to feel panic and fear and anything else, but take a deep breathe. Hold it, let it out. Everything is okay, you saved an animal's life, you saved your friends furry family. Who we are under pressure is our true selves- you've shown to be selfless, caring, and a great friend.
I hope (and believe from your description) that your friend will return this kindness.

I think you are a good friend with a kind heart, and I would think karma is going to pay back your generosity. If she is good on her word, then I think you don't have much to worry about. You did the right thing for the right reason, and while the little bridezilla on your shoulder has a right to feel concerned, she can sit and be patient.

It sounds like you did a very kind & selfless thing. You're a great friend and I'm sure her (and her cat) appreciate and love you very much. Thankfully, we haven't ever been forced to put a friend or family member in this position. We have credit cards & savings for big emergencies. We don't have pet insurance (never have), but I think part of owning a pet is being sensible enough to have savings for vet emergencies. I imagine she plans on paying you back, starting ASAP even if it takes several months?

    She is!
Well she is a first time pet owner. It happens. ❤❤❤❤ I am glad to have helped her.
Yes she is paying me back asap when she can. Luckily my F.H. and I have a little emergancy fund stashed away just in case we dont make it to our wedding quota.

Im just relieved to be there when it happened
It is scary to have a family member or (fur baby) sick.

What you did was exactly what your heart told you to do, you probably would have felt worse if you could have helped her but didn't. I think you took the higher of the roads offered to you and you put your friendship/relationship first. Staying on budget while wedding planning is very difficult and of course it gets aggravating when you spend where you have not been planning to spend but you acted with your heart and made the right choice, more power to you!

You're not in the wrong, and you did a FANTASTIC thing...it was very self less of you. I would hope any of my friends would do the same for me and your friend is very lucky to call you a friend.

It should be natural to be upset. After all, it wasn't just money you worked for but you knew what it was going to be used for!

I would say, take it easy. Talk to her about it. Maybe get into the conversation of her paying you back...Even in installments! She should be more than understanding.

My sister's cat is very prone to UTIs. She has at least four a year. Sister would do ANYTHING for that cat! (she got her a month after our Mom passed; I think the cat really helped her heal - it's been 14 years).

That said, God bless you for what you did! There's a special place in Heaven for animal loversSmiley smile

Your friend will never forget what you did, I promise Smiley heart
