I don't get why people refuse to send back RSVPs

Please allow me to vent. Our RSVP deadline is a week away. The envelopes all have our address on them and the address of our guest on them as well. They're stamped. Literally, all they have to do is check a box for dinner. That's it. Done. Yet people would rather text us to say whether they're...

Our RSVP deadline is a week away. The envelopes all have our address on them and the address of our guest on them as well. They're stamped. Literally, all they have to do is check a box for dinner. That's it. Done. Yet people would rather text us to say whether they're coming or not instead of actually putting it in the mail. I just don't get it. You can't take 5 seconds (literally, 5 seconds) out of your oh-so-busy life to tell me what you want for dinner? It's quicker to text it? Ugh.

And don't even get me started on people who we haven't heard from at all. So freaking annoying.

I'm going through the same thing! Our deadline is 12/1. I've gotten back 27 out of 96. I see people booking hotel rooms and not sending back RSVPS. We did post card style, they don't even have to put them in an envelope. I just don't understand when people became so less diligent. You shouldn't have to provide an online RSVP to accommodate laziness. That's just ridiculous to me.

We had 100 guests and only had to ask a few on DH's side. I was dreading it so bad, but most came in the week after the deadline

Same problem!! I made it so easy for people. All they need to do is wrote their name on the card and check yes or no. It's a buffet so no meal choice. The envelopes are stamped and addressed. Put it in the freaking mailbox people!!! We sent out about 215 invites. I'm still waiting for about 60 to come back. My deadline is this Friday. About half of those 60 people have told us they're either coming or not coming. But it's so rude not to send back

It's annoying. I went through the same thing. You go through all the hassle of stamps and still people are lazy to respond. Wish you the best!

Hold up. People don't know you can put outgoing mail in your own mailbox and the postal workers will pick it up and take it to the post office for you???

Free standing mailboxes- that's what the flag is for. You put the flag up so they know there's outgoing mail.

Big apartment complexes with rows of mailboxes usually have a separate box for outgoing mail.

Some houses with mailboxes attached don't have the flag, but just leave the flap up with the stamp showing and they'll see it.

This is a new fear for me as we are planning the wedding. Adulting is not hard people! Just put the stamped and addressed envelope in the mail.

"Why not just provide an online rsvp option (not instead but on top of)?"

Because I shouldn't have to if I choose not to. People need to learn how to adult. It really isn't hard.

I have an online option for RSVP as well as sent out cards and I still have not heard back from 3/4 of my guest list and over half my wedding party. I know the deadline is not until December but I wish they would get back sooner so I know how many favors to orders and centerpieces. I don't want to waste money if I don't have to.
