How to you refer to your future spouse? Fiance, etc?

I feel like a weirdo calling my FH fiance in every day life. It reminds me of an old Seinfeld episode where a woman is walking around asking everyone "Where is my FIANCÉ?! Has anyone seen my" FIANCÉ??" So I typically just continue to call him my boyfriend, but even THAT feels weird now, especially...

So I typically just continue to call him my boyfriend, but even THAT feels weird now, especially when I'm wearing my gorgeous engagement ring!

With people I already know or who know I'm engaged, I'll literally say This is is my future husband/husband to be.

Idk. What do you guys do?

I still mostly say boyfriend or just call him by name. Sometimes I'll say fiance but it's not my favorite.

I'm definitely guilty of using "boyfriend" in place of fiance on purpose. My FH can get away with saying "My girl" and it sounds completely normal, but I'm not the type to go around saying "My man" 😂😂 I'd rather say fiancé at that point!

I don't get when fiancé became so weird sounding! I think before I got engaged it seemed like a completely normal thing to say. I guess now that it's me, it feels a little braggy or pretentious or something?

Totally agree. I preferred fiance to boyfriend and husband doesn't feel weird either.

I usually say fiance but to be honest i hate saying fiance too. i don't know what it is but fiance sounds... so... formal in an awkward way to me. i sometimes also just call him my husband anyway.

There are many women who have "fiances" they never intend to or don't have plans to marry. They just call them that because they hate using the word boyfriend. Or they've been together for a very long time. So if I meet someone who refers to their fiance I congratulate them and ask when they are getting married. If they say they haven't set a date I asked when they got engaged (like it's any of my business). If they say "well he didn't officially..." I cannot help but frown! I know that is terrible of me!

My FH and I joke about this episode all the time lmao. 😂 whenever we’re out in public we’ll call out obnoxiously, “where’s my fianceeeeee!” We had someone once say, “maybe the dingo ate him”.

I dont call him my fiance when it is just him and I. Then its the other pet names or his actual name. To others he is my fiance until he is my husband. I feel there are terms for a reason. Why not use them?
