My wedding is in 10 days!! I already had my final guest count and paid for the catering. My wedding is in 10 days!! I already had my final guest count and paid for the catering. I recently had a guest who told me they couldn't make it weeks ago to just message me saying their plans fell through and asking if they can still come. I already have my seating chart and everything done. How to I tell them no without sounding so harsh. I am such a push over and I feel bad but it's 10 days before my wedding. I don't have time to scramble and find 2 more spots and contact the caterer. Help!!

    Maybe something to consider

We turned in our final numbers and paid the hall for some 220 people. Two weeks leading up to the wedding, we had people cancel on us. We also had people late RSVP or ask to come. We accepted, to fill in some of the cancellations. We paid for those seats anyway. On the day of the wedding, we had about 15 people no show that RSVP

Talking with others, this is all very typical. SO I'm sure you won't have any problems finding a few seats for people. Id also like to mention that the hall didn't "count guests" in any way. Now if you want to reject them out of principle, that's your option of course. Personally, I tried filling in those seats. ^^

I would let them come. It was important to you that they be there or you wouldn't have invited them. Put out another table , what if people who didn't RSVP at all show up? Do you have a few extra seats?

For other brides, just add the few late responders. They will be offset by the ones who RSVPd yes, but then don't show.

At our wedding, a guest brought a plus one (which she was not given). He was offset by a guest who literally got sick in the car and turned around and went home.

    It all works out.

Good riddance! Oh well. My wedding is 2 months from now and I'm getting the same crap from people. They first said yes, then no, then received a txt, asking if they can come but with their kids, because they still can't find a babysitter. I said, absolutely not. People tend to grow balls in situations like this. We are all already super stressed out and then to deal with this nonsense?! So, Kathleen, don't stress yourself out. You had invited them, their plans fell through, they will be fine. Best of luck to you! Smiley smile

I think it would have depended on the relation of the guest.

But I definitely would have been peeved with the "plans fell through" part. I probably would have worded that more carefully on their part.

You do what you feel is right and hopefully you are confident in your decision.
