Never ever ever would I plan a wedding in 30 days. The only way I would consider it is if either one of us was dying, or we were trying to get married before one of us got deployed (if either one of us was in the service to begin with).

How to plan a wedding in 1 day:

"Honey, we're going to the courthouse tomorrow."

"Great babe. Let's stop at the liquor store on the way home for beer."

Facebook post: Everyone meet at 5 for pizza and beer at our house!!

Call Papa Johns at 330 for a big pizza order.

    Lmao A&J. Love it!

At this point, I wish FH and I would have just followed your plan when we got engaged last November!

A friend of mine semi-eloped and planned a Vegas chapel wedding (they live there, I used to live there about 12 years ago) in about 1.5 weeks. Even with the chapel mostly having everything set up for them to do on the fly, it was still really stressful for her. I don't think she'd recommend it, lol.

OK that article cracked me up!!! They forgot to add: day 25, freak out that no one who is remotely worth hiring is available in less than 1 month. And I'm guessing this planner doesn't work.

I saw this on MSN today too.

I did plan a wedding in about a week (more like planned it all in a day and had a week to do everything). My mom was really sick and Dr told us we were looking at 3 weeks. FH and I wanted to moved up our ceremony for her to be there. Went to the dress shop they were AMAZING! They got my dress (Maggie Sottero that usually is measurements and 6 months to get in) they found in in Cali that they ordered in my size, I Just had to have it overnighted. Went that same day we got shoes/accessories/cake (the local grocery store was great we got a two tier cake and 32 cupcake from Tops Markets and it was under $60 and delicious!) A local restaurant did open until 3 on Saturday, so they were going to let us come in at 1 order of the menu and do our ceremony there. It all came together and we were going to have about 20 people. We ended up cancelling it the morning of because of my mom's condition, but when the need and urgency is there it's simple to pull together.

I don't need to read the article. I know It can be done. It's not going to be the big ballroom reception, but it could still yield some gorgeous wedding photos. She buys a dress off the rack, he rents a tux (or better yet, buys a fantastic suit he can wear again), they rent a private room in a gorgeous restaurant for 35, they hire an officiant, a photographer, buy a cake, everyone raves about the food while ordering more drinks, touching speeches are made...and you've got a beautiful wedding. Actually, it sounds magical to me.

I saw some fabulous winter wedding photos once. It was a courthouse wedding. She wore a gown, he wore a tux. Their reception was at a restaurant, and the beautiful dinner was set for about 25 people at a formally set banquet table. The photographer got some great shots of the guests. Then he took the couple outside, and as the snow fell in the background, he took some of the most ethereal shots I've ever seen. There's no way you couldn't call it a formal wedding.

Guy took his girlfriend to the beach in the morning and proposed. She said yes. He suggested they get married that evening at sunset. She said yes. They went to the courthouse & got the marriage license in the afternoon. Because they were non-residents, there was no waiting period. I married them at sunset. (He had booked me a few days in advance.)

We decided to get married on a Thursday, by Monday I had my dress, and deposits down on all my vendors. Then I had about 12 weeks to twiddle my thumbs and do nothing. 3 months felt like way too long for me and the type of wedding we had (however was necessary only on the vendor/venue end of things)

@munkos, that sounds similar to my experience. We got engaged on July 21 while on a vacation with no cell or Internet but had decided on a location, flowers, caterer, dress, invites ordered, hotel discounts secured and decorations planned by mid-August. Since then I've done some DIY only to keep myself busy and because I would be doing something anyway. It can be done, especially if you have modest expectations and a bit of savings already available.
