How to pick a date?

I was wondering how you and your fiancé choose your wedding date? Was it a anniversary or have special meaning? Or did you just look on the calendar and pick date and make it your day?

We picked the date mostly based on the venue, weather, as well as low season, because it’s a DW. We also new we wanted about 1.5 years to save and plan. We wanted to keep costs as low as possible for the guests, so November it was! Now moved to May, which in all honesty is a time of year I would prefer, but is now slightly more expensive accommodations for everyone.

We picked our date and our rescheduled date based on venue availability. As long as it was a Saturday (lots of traveling guests), we really didn't care. We got better rates by being flexible.

We got engaged on 1/11/19 and wanted a 2020 date. So we looked through the Saturdays in 2020 and (originally) selected 10/10/20 because it was fun and cute. But then, COVID 🤦🏽‍♀️. So we decided to postpone a year. But for us, 10/10/21 didn’t have the same fun appeal and ring to it. And since 10/10 wasn’t selected for a special reason, we started from scratch and began looking at the fall/winter Saturdays in 2021. I saw 10/30/21 and really liked it for a few reasons: 1.)It’s still fun and I like that it’s not actually ON Halloween 2.)We’re getting married in Vegas and the venue has a distinct 1920’s/speakeasy style, which is so perfectly fitting near Halloween and 3.) Before covid, we usually hosted 3-4 parties each year. So we thought it’d be fun to host themed costume parties for our anniversaries 🎉🎃 . And that’s how 10/30/21 became the perfect date for us (which I actually love more than our original date). Thankfully our venue and all of our vendors had the date available and switched us without any hassles.

We picked a season/year we liked, and then chose the date based on the venue's availability.

I choose our date 02.22.2020 bc we both love winter and wanted a “not in wedding season” wedding. After narrowing down btwn January and February and looking at the days on the calendar, 02.22.2020 just had such a nice ring to it!, and became our day!❤️

We chose ours based on a date that was significant for us. We have 3 dates of importance to us. When we first met online (June), when we first met in person (February), and when we got engaged (March). As we're marrying in Arizona, that discounted June as it is too hot for us. We went against February as it's too close to Valentine's. Which left us with March. 🙂

We knew we wanted it in our favorite month, which is October. Since we wanted an outside ceremony, we had to choose something in the beginning of the month or it would be too cold. We then talked to our officiant (who is a family member). She ruled out what had been our preferred date due to a prior obligation, so we picked the weekend before that along with two backup dates. Luckily, the venue had the date we wanted available as did our preferred photographer!

We literally just picked a date that worked with our work schedules and would give us an extra day off of work so we could party longer (Labor Day weekend 09/04/2020). And then Covid made us postpone to 09/04/2021. I never understood picking a “special date”, but maybe it’s because we’re not that kind of people. I just feel like the date will become special in its own way after you’re married.

We picked our date based on the weather. We are planning to get married in May because in the part of California it’s the best weather

A fall wedding was a must have for us. It’s our favorite season. Preferably in October because September can still be 90 degrees in Missouri and November starts the holiday season. We narrowed it down to two weekends because my fiancé’s birthday is one week, our town has a huge fall festival another weekend (that is now cancelled), and Halloween is the last weekend. We picked 10.10.2020, the most popular date in 2020 because I loved the sound of it. This meant I had to start booking venue and vendors really early.

We chose may 16 2020 because we both love the weather in the month of May and wanted to marry before it got too hot. I like even numbers so the 16th worked lol

I wanted a fall wedding and we got engaged on September 25th so we decided to go with the Saturday closest to that date. We went with September 26th! Honestly if we didn't get engaged that day I'd still want to be around that time since that's when leaves usually change in Northern Minnesota!

We picked our date because it was the last weekend before the rates went up for wedding season! It worked perfectly because the few weekends before were cold and rainy, our weekend was sunny and 90 and the weekend after was cold and rainy.

My fiancé and I agreed Fall 2021 and then sort of left it up to what our venue had available. It totally worked out in our favor though, and we’ll be getting married the day before our 6 year dating anniversary! Not a bad way to celebrate, if you ask me!

We are getting married on Thursday, July 1, 2021 for a variety of reasons:

    - to make it inconvenient for certain family members to actually attend (because we feel a familial obligation to invite them, but secretly hope they won't come)

    - we are doing an "adventure wedding" and July 1 should provide us with a minimal-ish amount of snow still on the actual trail that we would have to hike to, without it being swelteringly hot - AND keeping snow on the mountain peaks, because they are prettiest when they sparkle. It will also hopefully not be freezing cold at sunrise (but I have a long sleeved dress, just in case)

    - Thursday, because our photographer is a close friend of ours and we didn't want to book up one of his very high demand weekends when he could be making 3-4X what we are paying.

We knew we wanted October- November. My sister arbitrarily picked a date off of the calendar and said “why don’t you get married this day?” And the date she’d mentioned was my great grandma’s birthday. She passed away, but we were very close. So my fiancé and I knew it had to be that day.

We fell in love with our venue but then because of COVID 2021 filled up really quickly and our date is one of the few dates they still had available for the year and we really didn't want to have too long of an engagement (March 5th 2020). It's a bit later in the year than we wanted, but my fiancee pointed out that Thanksgiving is a huge deal to my family and they mostly live in Europe. If they were to fly out for our wedding we would already be together and able to celebrate it stateside for once. Plus I love Thanksgiving and now every year we'll have our anniversary around my favorite holiday Smiley smile

I wanted to get married in Autumn because I love the color change here in NY and didn’t want to be sweating or too cold on my wedding day. September here can still be hot and we sometimes get snow by Halloween so we settled on October 3rd.
