How to organize vendor payments.

I'm wondering this too... The officiant, DJ and bar bill need to be paid and tips given. I'm thinking maybe a DOC is needed just for this!

I think that's brilliant, if you want to pay people on the day and have all that cash floating around. I personally ask our couples to pay ahead, more because I don't want to have to talk money on the day. I think that most of my couples also want to have a bit more of a paper trail (or plastic trail, lol); it just feels a little more real.

You could also use one specific online calendar program to send you alerts on days to send checks to them. I don't think anyone is going to whine if you send them money ahead of time.....

Well it's really only two vendors that said payment on day of, 1. Our officiant 2. Our photographer (who is a friendor-yes we have a contract ) like I said, I'm probably making this way harder than it needs to be lol

It's usually the best man's job to deliver the payments so that it's one less thing on your mind. You just need to get the envelopes together and pass them on to the best man and he takes it from there.

We did the envelope thing and it worked great!!! We turned the cash into cashier's checks! It was very easy to stay organized and actually see the cash lol

That's what we're doing. My mom's best friend is going to hold on to vendor payments for us (and our cell phones).

We contacted our vendors to ask if it was possible to pay them a week before the wedding instead of the day of and they said they were perfectly fine with that.

I put checks in envelopes with a thank you note, and had my mom pass them out. All the venders were fine with that. I didn't have any trouble because I found somebody I could trust to handle the money.

The band we hired requested we make the final payment the day of the ceremony as they do not accept checks. We asked if it would be okay if we mail them a cashier's check the week of and they are okay with that.

May I suggest, if you're having a rehearsal, invite your photographer (since he's a friend) and pay them both then. This way you have one less thing to think about.

I have the envelopes made and filled with cash and locked in our safe. I did that last week!
