How to manage sweat on the big day?!

MrsBanks, on April 13, 2017 at 1:21 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

So I was wondering if there are any brides out there who run hot like I do? I can break a sweat very easily, and I also sweat when I'm nervous. With all eyes being on me, I know that nervous sweat is going to happen, and It doesn't help our venue is a greenhouse (we've spoke with them, and they will turn on the A/C during.) I was curious if anyone had any tips and tricks to not looking like a slob walking down the aisle and for pictures

We're both sweaty people and because of the weather that day there was no avoiding looking a little shiny in some of our pictures Smiley smile

I'd say to keep in mind that you run hot - make sure your dress doesn't make you even hotter (like my big tulle ballgown), wear your hair up, even keep one of those mini personal fans with you while you're getting ready! My tendency to sweat is also one of the reasons I went with airbrush makeup - because for me it stays put throughout a night's worth of dancing, crying, and sweating!

I also am a big fan of the blotterazzi blotters by beautyblender!

Man, I did not think my dress would be that hot since it was not a big dress- just a simple strapless lace fit and flare, but I still felt like I was in a sweat prison. I didn't realize how many structural layers there were in the gown.

Like @WWLynnie, I went with airbrush makeup, which held up ALL NIGHT despite the fact that I was sweating like I was in a hot yoga class. I know some people don't love airbrush, but I think you should at least give it a try in your trial to see if it works well with your skin. Even with all the dancing during the reception, my makeup looked spot on in pictures. I also wore my hair up as well, which also helped a lot.

As an aside, make sure to drink lots of water!!! If you are sweating a lot, it's easy to get dehydrated! You don't want to get dizzy or faint during your wedding.

This is my worst fear during the day lol, the birth control that I'm on makes me get hot really easily. My dress is long sleeve lace with like 3 layers of dress, bad choice on my part but I guess when I tried it on I wasn't thinking about that! I'm going with airbrush makeup and I picked up some spray on dove deodorant and am hoping that'll help. Our wedding is inside so I plan to tell them to keep it on full blast lol.

Airbrush with good primer and sealing spray generously applied will be your face saver! Mitchum antiperspirant works great too and get in unscented.

This is a fear of mine as well. Also, my neck gets blotchy and I'm nervous when I'm the center of attention. I plan on hydrating and hanging in the shade and being constantly buzzed. Haha

I'm going to skip lotion (it makes me sweat more noticeably) and do airbrush makeup. I'm also getting myself and all of the guests mini fans. My pits get stinky sometimes—especially if I'm cold or nervous—so I'm planning on doing bathroom baskets with baby wipes and spray deodorant. Even if no one else uses it, I probably will Smiley winking haha

I actually just posted a thread sorta about it!

You should buy these, if you don't already use them! They work great and don't smudge your makeup at all!

I purchased those mini hand fans as gifts to those in my wedding party. They will use them to follow me around to fan me to make sure I don't break a sweat.

It'll be 50 degrees in the mountains of NC for my wedding so I wasn't too worried about sweating but you brought up nervous sweating... unfortunately, I tend to do that... a lot.. too much. Eeek!

This I should why I couldn't have my wedding in the summer. I sweat very easily. And nervous sweat is way worse than regular sweat. I use certain dri in the summer months to help combat the underarm sweat marks. I'm going to get my bridal party to fan and blot me all day.

Oh gosh, this is one of my biggest fears! Our ceremony and cocktail hour will be on a rooftop in July. WTF were we thinking when we chose that date?!

(It's cause we got a sweet discount lol.)

I live in Florida and this is my biggest fear too. My fiances as well. Because he knows how I get and he is worried for me and doesn't want my day to be ruined by any of this.

We wanted a fall wedding, an out door fall wedding but hello we don't get fall here so that was out of the question.

We choose Feb one of our cooler months, found a place with plenty of shade, my dress is very light, I opted out of the under layers (also helped with making it just right because I wanted a flowly loose boho dress) air brush make up, updo.

You are about a year away from your date so when planning keep all these things in mind. I sweat so badly too. If you are that worried about it, like I am. Go with choices that will minimize that and picking great vendors (youll find that they are great when first talking to them and meeting them) your nervous sweats wont happen so much when drawing near to your date because you won't have to be nervous about those things.

Don't forget it will be hot under your dress too. I would suggest wearing a pants slip.

I live in Florida and our whole wedding is outside. We picked March hoping it will be nice during the day and cool at night while everyone is dancing.

I spoke to my demarologist and she's going to put me on some pills that prevent excessive sweating. Unfortunately it also dries out your skin in general (not Accutane btw). If it's a hugeee issue for you, and you dont mind some side effects you can go that route also. Im stopping if after the wedding but Im starting early so I can see how my body reacts to it. I sweat a LOT! Like people will ask me "are you feeling ok???"

I'm not a sweaty/stinky pit person, but I'm a sweaty back/boob/ass/cooch/knee(wtf?) person. I'll stick to using my Mitchum deodorant in pits and under boobs, and I use baby powder in all the other places. It's what I do all summer every year.

One of the reasons I love my dress is that it's pretty lightweight. I plan on having deoderant spray n blotting wipes in a bathroom basket. I'm going to see about a hoop vs chrenoline slip, also. I'm not loving my neck so I'll be leaving my hair down.
