How to Incorporate Groom's 4 sisters...

Stephanie, on December 8, 2014 at 3:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

My fiance and I are getting married in October. He has 3 groomsmen: his step-dad and 2 brother-in-laws, and I have 3 bridesmaids: my 2 sisters and my best friend. He has four sisters, and I feel like we should incorporate them into the wedding somehow. But I have no idea how or what to do. I know I'll need help with decorating and running errands the day of (getting the cake, etc.) but I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas that could help? I'm really only close with three of the four, but I don't want to leave anyone out or hurt anyone's feelings. Any thoughts is greatly appreciated!

Side note: we do not want to have anymore bridesmaids/groomsmen than we have, so making the bridal party bigger isn't an option.

Here are a few options depending on your wedding:

-do a reading at the ceremony

-give the prayer before dinner/during ceremony

-can bring the isle runner out

    -give a toast

-maybe have a special dance for the siblings (something silly and fun)

-If you are having the parents walk in, maybe the sisters can walk in the parents

Those are just a few ideas of the top of my head. Also, get a feel for how they want to be involved. If someone is shy or not close with you, helping with day of stuff may be all they want to do. If you're close and they are giving a lot of support, maybe they want to be a bit more involved the day of Smiley smile

A wedding I was in, the bride had bridal attendants. Basically the day of they got there when she did and helped out in any way they could. If she forgot something, or grabbing her food. So not necessarily BMs but there to help. That may be an option.

If they are old enough, you could have them walk down the special relatives (grandparents, etc) down before the mothers. To give them a place of honor?

    How old are the sisters?

You can make them readers at the ceremony, or ask them to give speeches either at the rehearsal dinner or the wedding.

I know that 4 is a lot, but if you don't want them to be bridesmaids then I think it would be a little rude to ask them to help with running errands on the day of. If they are not bridesmaids you are essentially asking that they come as guests and, FSILs or not, getting the cake and decorating your venue is not their job.

    A few suggestions:

    - do readings, have them as ushers, maybe have one or two as MC's at the dinner/reception. Maybe they would be happy to be guests and no more involved?
