How to include my brothers on the big day?

Taylor, on January 23, 2020 at 11:44 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Hi all, I have 2 brothers that are around my age but since my FH isn't close with them he didnt want to have them in his wedding party. Which at first was a big issue but now everyone got over it - my problem is I am having trouble figuring out how to include them on the big day.

I want to involve them as much as possible but I am not sure how.. I can have one walk my Mom down the aisle or I guess both of them can.. any ideas/tips will help me so much, thank you in advance!

Side note the wedding is pretty small & in Jamaica so we dont really need any ushers.

You can have them as bridesmen or have them be ushers.

Why don't you have them on your side?

If you don't want to have them as bridesmen, I would have them as ushers. For your mom and/or grandparents. They could also do a reading during the ceremony or hand out ceremony programs.

My FH & I already have 6 people in our parties, and we wanted the amount of people to be the same. Sadly my FH cant find 2 more people to fill his party that are willing to spend the money to go to Jamaica (which I understand). But I can always get over the mismatched number.. but then idk who they will walk with down the aisle.

Have them walk your mom down and maybe do some readings?

They could always walk each other down the aisle if they stand on your side. And like Kathryn said, they could also do some readings maybe?

They could act as announcers / hosts and be sort of like Day of Coordinators and make sure things go smoothly, but that would involve them learning a bunch about the day and maybe they don't want to. I know my brothers wouldn't. LOL.

My brother was not in the grooms party either. He walked in the processional with his wife before my parents did and I still included his name in the programs

I like what Melle said; makes the most sense in your situation and involves them.
