How to hang a slip?

Lyndsey, on April 28, 2012 at 8:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I have to wear a full slip with my wedding dress with plenty of layers. I was told by the bridal shop to hang it "inside out and upside down" with the type of hanger that pants come on with the two clips.

I got it inside out fine, of course, but if I were to hang it from the bottom layer upside down, the rest of the layers would no longer be inside out. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about and can better explain how I'm supposed to hang this thing to fluff it out and get the wrinkles out.

Right now I have it inside out but right-side up hanging, but I know that's not right. Any help would be awesome.

    What? LOL

Sorry, I don't really know what you're talking about, I have mine hanging the normal way but I haven't had alterations yet so I don't know if that's right or not.

Well hopefully that'll cut it. The way they told me makes no sense at all. I think as long as the wrinkles are out, I'll be fine.

Thinking the upside down is going to fluff out the layers, sounds like you will need alot of closet space though

My alterations lady said you can run a hot iron to get our wrinkles on your slip. She's the one who told me to hang up the slip.

I received mine inside out so I'm pretty sure you don't want to hang it that way. I was wondering how to get all the wrinkles out of it as well. I'm pretty sure you don't want to take a hot iron to it - especially with a tag on it that says "do not iron" and "spot clean" only. So I was going to let it hang out for about a month before the wedding and for about 2 weeks in the bathroom while I showered to see if the hot steam did it any good. But right now is a bit too early for me to do anything with it.

    Hi Lindsey,

You can also put your slip in the dryer air cycle if you have it or delicate cycle with fabric softener paper for about 2 minutes until you feel a lukewarm to the touch of the fabric.
