How to deal with family riff/ill feelings?

EStrella, on February 14, 2020 at 7:42 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 3

My friend is getting married but his wife has a family riff ( I think thats what you call it) Im not gonna get into why and all the drama but his wife doesnt know whether to invite her cousins they are all pretty much got ill feeling towards her because of her Dad . One of the mother's siblings of the wife doesnt like her so much and the other does. She doesnt know who to invite and what to do. Have you ever been in this situation?

I’d say only invite people to your wedding who are supportive of you and your relationship or
    They may spoil your day

So do the bride and her cousins get along fine, but their parents are feuding? If so, then I say invite the cousins, and if the parents get mad, oh well. It's not their wedding. But if it's the bride and her cousins that are feuding, then I wouldn't bother. It's really up to her though, no one else can really speak to their dynamic. Were they previously very close, and hope to heal the riff in the future? Then this could be the opportunity to do that. Or is the relationship long gone and dead? In which case, what would they really be adding by attending anyway?

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, EStrella. This is a very personal question and opinions will vary from person to person. Personally, I would only be inviting people I want to celebrate the day with.
