How to choose a theme?

Brief back story of my FH and I.

We met in September '96 and got married in '97. I was just barely 20 years old. We rushed. We were young and our wedding was more like a backyard BBQ. My dress was a dress a woman would wear to an office job. We lasted 7 years, had 2 children together. Got back together 13 years later. He has a daughter from a relationship he had while we were divorced. Been back together for 5 years. We started talking about getting married again 2 years ago. But we waited until it was the right time.
We both enjoy the outdoors, some romance.
I don't know how or what type of theme besides rustic. We don't want a complete rustic theme. Any ideas?

You don't necessarily have to have a theme! You could just pick out decor that you both like. My fiance and I didn't want to choose a theme, though a lot of our decor unintentionally fits into a forest theme. If you enjoy the outdoors, you could incorporate a forest theme, or camping theme, or a lake theme, or really anything that matches up with what you're interested in.

Everyone has a theme, whether they call it an aesthetic, a vibe or something else. They cover a wide variety of things: colors, season, fandom, nature, any aesthetic you want. Have you browsed Pinterest for ideas? You could do something forest related without going rustic. Or just use colors.
