How to choose a dj

Paige, on September 12, 2019 at 4:26 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Our photographer, food, venue, etc we could see what we were getting. A DJ is tough and the prices vary immensely. We are looking to spend less than $800. Other than reading reviews, what is a good way to decide if the DJ will work for you?

Have a face-to-face meeting with them so you can get a feel for what kind of personality they have. We LOVED our DJ after our meeting with him. Super chill and genuine guy, but also very professional with lots of experience. He was very prepared for our meeting and told us everything we could've even thought to ask and once he got to get to know us a bit he was cracking jokes left and right with us. We went home afterwards and booked him immediately!

I was between a few options and I just went with the person I felt was more personable and you can even get examples of their music or playlists to further help you.

We selected a dj off a preferred vendor list from our venue. They had several djs they recommended and I reached out to all of them. I also looked at videos they had on Facebook and one sent us a video in the mail. I selected our dj because I liked him the best and I am so glad I did because he was amazing and everyone had a great time. I will say that $800 is rather low for a dj.

    Hey Paige!

I know it can be difficult to narrow your search down entirely. The first thing that you can do is write a priority list of things that you absolutely want to be included in your DJ contract. Do you want your DJ to also be your MC?
