How to break a contract with a vendor?

I need to cancel my MUA. To be clear, she is amazing, I would highly recommend her. It's just logistically it is not working it, and 100% my fault. I didn't think through having someone come to my house vs a salon. I've given a deposit and don't want it back as it is my fault. I feel awkward as we are Facebook friend's ( she is not a friendor) but she's done my makeup before and that was the best way to stay in touch. Do I just email her now or wait until I 100% book a new salon? I have a second trial set for Friday.

I had a similar issue but no contract yet. I went for a trial then after all was done she told me that her friend would come and do all the hair... hair i just paid trial for. when her friend reached out the hair cost doubled and she had an additional travel fee for double the girl I booked. I texted her that i found someone else to do my wedding

I spoke with my BMs before booking to see who would want hair and makeup done. I think you could ask them all to get a count before canceling...maybe the timing will be fine!

Honestly I don't see how going to a salon is going to make this any easier on you. If you need to be dressed by 12, you're still going to have to get up early to make it to the salon, get both hair and makeup done, and back at your photo location by 12.

Would you all be going to the salon together? You still need to know how many people are getting their hair and makeup done well in advance with that scenario to make sure there are enough hair stylists working and available that day.

It is 100% more convenient for the artists to come to you. I'm not a morning person myself, but I am getting my ass up early on my wedding day too to make sure everyone has plenty of time to get prettied up at the house we're staying at. You'll be fine.

First look is at 2. BM not committing to anything right now because they are trying to figure out what to do about their children. I'm looking at larger salons that have 3-4 MUA on staff that can easily handle the last minute addition of 1 or 2 more of us, where as my girl needs to know right now if it is 6 to bring some one and it is another large deposit. Same for traveling hair and I'm not willing to commit to that since I am concerned BM could back out and I'm stuck paying. I've been in several weddings that we were in and out of salons hair & make up 2 hours, which is why this didn't dawn on me until I started to do my day of timeline. Now it isn't the best timeline for me. SO I've got to cancel and don't want to offend someone I would use for other events.
