How to ask a friend from out of state to be a groomsmen?

So FH and I have been been trying to find the best way to ask his friend to be a groomsmen. We ordered glasses off etsy to ask everyone if they would be apart of our bridal party. We also bought them some form of alcohol to go with the glass. We hand delivered everyone's to them except his friend....

So FH and I have been been trying to find the best way to ask his friend to be a groomsmen. We ordered glasses off etsy to ask everyone if they would be apart of our bridal party. We also bought them some form of alcohol to go with the glass. We hand delivered everyone's to them except his friend. He does not live in the state. So we are trying to come up with a good/appropriate way to ask. FH wants to just send it to him through the mail so it's a big surprise but I'm worried it won't make it or the glass will break. I thought about video chatting him and then giving it to him when he comes to town. My mom said just text or call him and save it for when he comes to town. What does everyone think would be the best way to ask? Any other ideas of how to ask?

    We have a buddy that lives out of town too that we wanted to ask to be a groomsman. I went on pinterest & found some cool ways to ask. I then typed up the one FH liked and printed it. When we got home, FH sent a picture of some beers & the sign asking him to be a groomsman, the text said "have you tried these beers?" Needless to say, our buddy joked around at first & said "no I'll have to try those soon, but was just joking around & said he would be honored to be a groomsman." We plan on giving him his "gift" next time he's in towb

    I messaged most people. 4/6 of my BM are out of state. And I told my sisters before we announced our engagement that they'd be my maids of honor, lol.

    But really, calling works just as well.

    I have two bridesmaids across the state. I sent them a package and asked them to call me before they opened it.
