How to address a place card

Linda, on May 16, 2017 at 11:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Good Morning All,

Probably a silly questions but I was wondering. A friend of mine is married but she never changed her name. She will be attending my wedding without her husband. How should I address her place card is it MRS, Jane Maiden name or is it MS. Jane Maiden Name.

Thanks all for your help

For a place card, I think you can leave off the salutation, and just say Jane Maiden Name.

@A.L. we are addressing all of our place cards as MR. and MRS. wouldnt it look odd for her to just say her name and no Ms or mrs?

Oh, I meant you can leave it off for everyone.

I think any of the above options are acceptable. Mrs., Ms. or just her name.

ETA: I think she's still a Mrs, cause she's married. But you can use Ms.

You say, "hello card..." (Sorry, it's an old Honeymooners joke, I couldn't resist). What they said above...

I honestly am just addressing everyone by first and last name.

If she's married then it's Mrs. Regardless of the last name.

I am just using first and last names like VC.

I had issues like this OP and honestly, the experts told me to leave it off. They all agreed it looked much better without it, and I'm having a formal affair. So I agree with A.L., and VC.

I think you should ask what she prefers. I say this just bc i wont be changing my name, and ergo i won't consider myself or go by "mrs.", and your guest may feel the same
