How soon should i get my wedding dress?

So I have a nervous bridesmaid that thinks I need to go dress snooping ASAP! I am not getting married for a year still and I’m going dress snooping next month. Should I be going to get my dress asap or is it okay to give it a minute? Thanks for all help and advice!

I would say order your dress as soon as possible but at the same time take your time and make sure that you’re making a choice that’s perfect for you. It’s OK not to buy the first dress that you see like I did only to return it months later. With shipping delays I don’t think it’s a bad idea to start as soon as possible but be deliberate in your choices.

I would get it asap bc most dresses takes up to 6 months to order and b shipped and with summer coming new collections come out for the following year. I'm getting married next April and I already went to 3 places looking for my wedding dress and found it. Dress and vail package at carolina bridal world in Burlington nc. The ladies there were awesome and very helpful. Our friend that is helping coordinate the wedding thought that I should wait til Nov to go shopping but the lady at the bridal world told me not a good idea bc the dress takes up to 6 months to order and b shipped from the designer. I'm working on getting the dress paid and then start to pay for the rest of the vendors and venues. I pretty much have everything booked and or going to check out the vendors. Venue is already book.

I went dress shopping 2021 for our 2022 wedding my dress came in 4months and then got my bridesmaids dress were done in May add we still have time for them to go for alterations with the next few months. And you don't want to wait to late because that will limit your selections choices by wait to late or what you want has either been sold or discontinued

Now is a good time to shop around and start getting ideas of what you want and what looks best on you, but you don't need to walk into every dress shop thinking that today you'll buy one. To make sure you have enough time for alterations and such, I'd make sure you have a dress no closer than six months out. Now if you do find the one while you're out there, great! Good luck either way.

I wasn’t planning on shopping until later (wedding is next year) but I ended up finding the perfect dress with a good price and then it went on sale so I bought it. I figured if the stars aligned and the universe was telling me to get it, I should!

On the more practical side, I see a lot of people experiencing delays due to supply chain issues, alterations getting booked up (due to the backlog of weddings), and general timelines taking longer due to mailing issues. It doesn’t hurt to at least start looking around now. Do keep in mind that your mileage may vary and plan practically. For example, I have an acquaintance who wanted a vintage dress found a dress easily but had issues finding an available alterations in her medium sized town. Family member getting a luxury dress was told 8 months production time.

We are getting married in September and I got my dress in January. But now I'm pregnant. Maybe I should have waited ( on the dress) not the baby

Most of the places that I went to said that the dresses should be bought a year ahead due to the disruptions to the supply chains.

Every bridal shop I’ve called in St Louis is saying 9 months. I guess it really depends on where you shop and what dress you end up ordering!
