How small is too small for a dj?

Lola, on May 5, 2018 at 12:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
I went to re-visit my venue with my fiancé last night and I feel like my original guest number of about 75-80 should probably be more like 65 in order for everyone to not be jammed into the space. I already hired a dj so it doesn't really matter at this point, but I guess my question is, is 65 too small for a dance party? I love dancing and I always pictured that my wedding would have it, but I am worried that our wedding might end up being too small for people to actually want to get up and dance. Has anyone else had a small wedding like this with a successful dance party?

I sure hope not! I'm having a DJ with 45 people attending a day time wedding.

We'll see how successful the dance party is at my wedding in two weeks, so I guess I can't give you peace of mind other than saying you're not alone in having a DJ for a dance party with a really small crowd.

I only had 40 guests and hired TWO bands, lol! I had a 5-piece band for dinner and then a 9-piece band for dancing after dinner. My guests were on the dance floor all night! So your guest list is definitely not too small for a DJ!

My parents do a party with about 50 people every summer and there’s always people on the makeshift dance floor. Music gets the party started no matter how few are there.

I think it will be just fine! Not sure what number is too small for a dance party but I think it's much smaller than 65 people!

I agree. I think you're okay! My wedding will be 70 and we're still having a DJ. Our numbers also shrunk and I was worried about the sAme thing!

65 shouldn't be too small at all!

Not at all! We have dance parties when it's just a small get together like 8 people! Any excuse to dance!

I don't think that's too small at all! They help with emcee stuff too, so they are helpful with music & getting the night going.

Agreed. Having 60-65 and the DJ will emcee and move the wedding along per the wedding program. He is also a long-time college buddy of my fiance so he can do all the announcements since he knows us.

If you can afford the DJ, go for it! Sounds like it could be a blast.
