How should the engagement ring fit?

Ally, on May 19, 2018 at 4:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
I just got my ring back from resizing. Prior, I had my finger sized at 5 1/2 and that's the same measurement they took before sending out. Now that I have the ring on my finger I feel like if I move my hand up and down the ring slightly slides with it and it can easily turn/spin BUT I do have to turn it back and forth to wiggle it over my fat knuckle. For the record, I never wear rings and it is a cold rainy day here. Looking at the ring from the front and back angle I don't see any space. What do I do?

That sound like a reasonable fit. You can always ask your jeweler for sizing beads, little beads of metal along the back of the ring. They allow for the ring the go over your knuckle but the fit snugger when on. I'd wait and see how it fits during the heat of summer first

If it doesn't slide over your knuckle you should be fine, unless you are wearing gloves of some sort

I had the same problem. You can purchase ring guards. I bought a package off of Amazon.

My ring does the same thing. After I got it back from resizing I thought it might need to go smaller but my FH suggested to let it be for a week and if it was still bothering me we would take it back. After a couple of days when the weather changed (got warmer) my ring didn’t move at all. It’s only when my hands are super cold that my ring moves a lot. I would give it a little while and see if the same thing happens to you.

My ring is crazy loose right now. If I were to shake my hand, it’d fly off. I need to get it sized, but haven’t done it yet.

My engagement ring felt like that too when I first got it (Christmas Eve 2016). But I noticed in warmer months my fingers swell a little causing the fit to be more snug. Once I added the wedding band it fits great now. If you are planning on adding a wedding band that may also help with your fit.

It’s the correct size, well was. I recently went through a weight loss (around 15 lbs) and it’s extra loose now. My hands swell at times due to arthritis, so i don’t want to get it resized and then it be too small.

It seems like such a pain. I suppose this is why I never wore rings myself. I guess people just deal after awhile?

Mine is a little loose too, like if I shake my hand around it’ll slip off. Fingers do shrink in the cold and swell in the heat. I am afraid if I side it down .25 it’ll be too tight when it’s warm. The adjustment coils were recommended to me by a few people, I got them from amazon a week ago and it’s perfect! If I get too swollen this summer I can take it off. You can adjust it to exactly as much or as little as you need. I think it’ll be really good as my fingers change size more than I realized before I wore a ring!

I saw those on Amazon. I think I'll try them out. From what I'm hearing on here, resizing it again night be a bad choice if I need more than a little force to get it over my knuckle on a cold day

I would wait a little. My ring is a size 4, and I thought it was too big because it kept turning. After wearing it for a month, I realized it's just top heavy (like most rings are) and was a good size for minor swelling on my finger during hot days or walking my dog. If I shake my hand the ring barely moves.
