How private should we make our wedding website?

Cheryl, on July 29, 2013 at 12:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

We're working on our wedding website right now, and most examples I see get really super specific about the details of the wedding day, including time and place of the ceremony. My fiancé's mom will not be invited to the wedding, but she has asked multiple times if she can come.. to a consistent, resounding no from both future hubs and me. We've also had a couple of my mom's friends "threaten" to "crash" our wedding.. and she can't tell if they're joking!

So my question is.. how detailed can we get on our website? I'm so in love with our venue, but I don't want to encourage any wedding day drama if one of these uninvited crazies does show up (although I would be surprised!). His mom does not have a computer and doesn't really know how to use one very well.. but she could always find out from others. I'm just so confused! What are your thoughts? Were you specific on yours?

Well, if anyone is going to spill the beans, people are going to do it when they get invitations. You can get pretty specific on the website if you want but only share the link to it with invited guests. Maybe even give them a password to gain access to the website. Some Wedding websites allow you to do that.

I'd just add a password so that she can't see it, or else skip the website altogether. There isn't much point on having a website if you can't put "additional information" on it.

I wouldn't post your address or specifics on where you live because that will ask for break ins.
