Be careful with your date. it's close to thanksgiving so people might want to charge holiday prices. and work on finding a venue and recp spot first. because it can be done my budget is 10k, but i have a lot of help from family. we both do. look into finding package deals to where you get everything for one price. like for 2,800 we got limo and 7hr photographer, but we also got a free engagement photo for the recp table and a wedding poster and wooden frame for free as well. with just those two items it would have paid for everything we got. you can do it just be smart about what is important and what is not

I'm not sure what all you have to work with but I'll just tell you what I am doing. I am attempting to plan one for around 5K as well and trying some DIY things as PPs have stated. Decos, flowers, invites, veil, etc.made by my mom & I. I'm not living paycheck to paycheck but I still didn't want to spend my extra on some things. Other things that I'm considering would be using some of an income tax refund check. Also, keeping more of my money throughout the year versus getting it at the beginning of next year. My job offers overtime & I find OT to be favorable. I also attend school online so refunds checks are a beautiful thing although the money will have to be paid back once I graduate. FH gets paid a lot more than I do so he's able to save more out of his check than me. Something else that we do every so often is have garage sales to get rid of the old and in with the new. If you have maybe some things cluttering your space, maybe get them together & when you've....cont'd

Accumulated quite a bit, give a garage sale. Sometimes you get a little, sometimes you get a lot. The least we've made on a garage sale was $60 with only about 5 customers and the most was about $500 in a few hours. It just depends on the amount of stuff and how you present it. Congrats on your engagement & I wish you all the best & I know that everything will come through for you & FH!!!

Hi!! Since you're new here let me introduce myself, I am Amber. Nearly everyone here knows me as Kali from a past account. I am a budget bride. And by budget I mean $2,000. So you're playing with more than I got to. At the moment, FS is out of work getting UI. I work at Subway making a bit above min. wage. I have paid for everything for our wedding on my own & am even under budget. I am sitting at $1730. My parents are paying for food, $250. And the venue, $150. I did everything DIY - Centerpieces, Bouquets, Card Box, Ring pillow, Flowergirl basket, etc. I saved a TON of money. I got discount (but beautiful) wedding invitations, etc. If you do it right, you'll do it under $5K depending on your venue, catering, etc. Opt for a less expensive menu, or cater it yourself. We're doing ham/turkey sandwiches, meatballs, pasta salads, veggie trays, chips, fruits, different veggie dishes, etc. And we're feeding 140-150 ppl for $250. Also, do cash bar. It'll save you hundreds, even thousands.

I like the babysitting idea. I've hired sitters through two different agencies - collegenannies.com and sittercity.com. You might try looking them up online and see if you can sign up as a sitter, its a good way to find sitting jobs.

First let me say "Congrats" It can be done. You have really decide what do you want and what do u need. Once that is decided with colors, church, halls, or venue then u can take it from there. I t can be done u have enough time to start planning and look at places and if there is a theme to the wedding. Good Luck you can do it!!!!
