How old is too old to be a flower girl?

Nancy, on September 30, 2017 at 11:16 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

I'm having all my children and grandchildren in our wedding party. My granddaughters will be 19 13 11 and 7. Is the 7 year old too old to be a flower girl or should she be a junior bridesmaid and dress like the other ones FYI my younger grandsons will be 8 but they will be ring bearers and carry a pumpkin shaped basket with the ring attached to a pillow.

Our flower girl will be 8 when the wedding comes around. I don't think 7 is too old, as long as she is ok with it! I actually think that's the perfect age because they can follow dircection

I think 7 is just perfect! They're old enough to not burst out crying in the middle of the ceremony haha.

The soon to be 7 is only 39 pounds at 6. So she is petite but she rules the two boys who are a year older and double her weight My three children each blessed me with a grandchild within one year

My flower girl was 73 so I don't think there's an age limit :-)

The last wedding I went to the flower girl was 7. I think it's a good age to that. It's more exciting for them then.

7 definitely isn't too old! My niece is my flower girl and she'll be 10 at the time of the wedding. I thought she might be too old at first, but she asked if she could do it, so I figured why not! I was the flower girl in my brother's wedding when I was 6, and I had a great time.

FH really wanted his nieces to be in the wedding at first I thought they were too old (they are also very tall for their age so sometimes look older than they are), but we love them so I decided to put them in. It's been really fun! One is 9 and one is 7.

7 is a good age. I had 2 flower girls - 4 and 7. The 4 year old didn't throw any petals walking down the aisle and then dumped her entire basket at the end lol. She also started making noise during the ceremony. The 7 year old on the other hand was perfect.

We're very close to all our nieces and nephews. So close in fact, we're having 7 flower girls (ranging from 4-13) and 4 ring bearers (ranging from 3-12). It's your wedding and your flower girl could be 72 if you wanted it that way!

I don't think there needs to be a cut off to these things. My 11 year old niece had her heart set on being a flower girl from the second we started dating. (if you get married I better be a flower girl) She would literally mention it every time she saw me. She would be heart broken if I told her, well the people on WW think you're too old so I'm sorry....

If she's keen on being a flower girl then she should have had it.

My Nana who turned 80 this year is our "Flower Girl." She was tickled pink when I asked her. She wanted to play a role in the wedding, FH and I felt she was an appropriate choice. She was impacted pretty severely by Hurricane Irma; however, she is looking forward to this. All that to say, it's your special day, do what makes you happy!

Any age where flower girls and ring bearers will actually remember the ceremony is a good age. Little ones who "look cute" are great but there's a lot to be said for young family members who will appreciate being part of your big day. Best wishes!
