How often do you look at your wedding photos?

Haley, on May 15, 2019 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I know this is a very broad question but I'm curious to hear what other people have to say. My current feeling is that I'll look at them for the first month and then post a few on social media. Aside from the occasional anniversary post, I don't see myself looking at my wedding photos more than once or twice a year.

I'm debating between splurging on an expensive photographer with an artistic flair or booking a standard wedding photographer with a good (but vanilla) reputation. Having wedding photos is definitely a non-negotiable but I'm struggling to figure out how often I'll actually look at them after.

Our photographer was a big splurge for our wedding, it is one of the most important things for us. I look at our engagement pictures often and have a lot printed. For our wedding photos we ordered an album and we also plan on making a gallery wall. We bought a lot of frames for signs and things for the actual wedding so that we don’t have to buy more to make our gallery!

Exactly what you listed is how rarely you’ll look at them. This is my second marriage... and for the first one the pics were never flipped through again (I came across them when I was cleaning out the house after the divorce). LOL!

So this time we aren’t splurging and only having a few photos. The rest aren’t really necessary because no one looks at them. Also, I don’t want to lose my entire cocktail hour time taking photos. I want to enjoy the time with our guests.

The best photos I look at all the time because I have them framed - both for our home and for our parents/grandparents/etc. We definitely look at the photos more often than we would ever expect to look at video though, that's for sure. But we look at our photos fairly often, and we're really glad our photographer did such a wonderful job.

We did first looks (best part of the day) and all formal portraits before the ceremony. Did some posed shots during the extended cocktail hour, enjoyed our true cocktail hour, and then our photographer was like a ninja - getting great shots of all of the important moments without making it seem weird lol. Was he ultra super expensive or super artistic or "the top of the top?" No. He was affordable, took great photos, had a wonderful personality and made our day great. That was more important.

SO MY POINT - I think going with a middle of the road, standard/vanilla photographer is totally fine for you. If nothing else, take some of your favorite shots after the fact and hire someone to photoshop them into something spectacular Smiley winking

I like your idea about reusing the frames from your decor! That's something to keep in mind!

I look at them at least once a week, if not more often! I got married in September of last year haha. Photos were my biggest priority, I wanted beautiful photos to look back on and I am so happy I splurged on them.

I felt the same and we just went with a friend of my husband she's a photographer and they turned out beautiful I have some all around the house i have only been married five months and look at them at least once a month on my phone especially because I had my close family fly out to be in it and attend, I am a very private person so I didn't upload them on social media but I love having them to look at for myself and around my home. I got an offer for a free photo album on shutterfly and have it sitting on a table and people love looking through it, so do i. If you feel as if you wont look at it as often get a standard photographer, having pictures to look back on no matter how frequently will still be a nice thing to have Smiley smile

My thoughts were if not having a video we wanted a good photographer with artistic flare. I will put pictures up in the house and do everything else you said. I would probably look at a photo album I make of the pictures every so often. I think when you have children, if that's in your cards, you like to show your kids once they're old enough. It was important to me to not have vanilla photos so that's just me!

I plan to frame my favorites, and have them all over my house, my desk at work. I will have an album too. I love looking at pictures, so I'll be the one looking at them all the time. But I do have a lot of photos around the house, so I can't wait to add my wedding photos!!
