How much was your catering?

Maya, on July 7, 2019 at 8:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 23
Very new to wedding planning so I’m trying to figure out if I’m being unrealistic. I’m hoping to do a brunch wedding/reception and my quotes range between $12-15K. Many include 2-3 passed or stationed apps; 2 entrees; 2 sides.
My fav venue includes 1 cocktail hour station (I’m thinking waffles & toppings!) mimosas, and family-style/shareable brunch (3 entrees and 2 sides) for $13K.

How much did you spend and what did you get? Meh or totally worth it?

$134 per person for a cheese and charcuterie station with 3 different passed appetizers for cocktail hour, a 3 course plated meal (amuse bouche/salad/entree and sides), and 3 different mini desserts. That included gratuity but not tax. And did not include any linens, place settings, etc.

This depends mostly on your area and guest list. We’re paying about $20 pp for food. That includes cocktail hour apps and 3 stations for dinner; a carving station, a mashed potato/Mac and cheese bar with toppings, and a taco/fajita station.

We are paying right under $11k for 90 guests (plus 3 vendors) which includes: venue, 6 passed apps, a 3 course sit down meal with 3 options, a wedding cake, open bar with 2 upgrades, a penthouse suite, linens, napkins, full service staff, bridal butler and pickies for the bridal suite, a signature cocktail, day of coordinator, and probably some other things I'm forgetting. Also includes 20% gratuity, though we are planning to have cash on hand for any extra we want to give.

We live in Philly and chose a Sunday wedding which saved us a few grand and allowed us to gain 15 guests.

Oh and they're letting men use the vases they have already for my centerpieces. I'm just doing petals in water with a floating candle and table number. The vases save me cash and I won't have like 20 to 30 glass vases left over to deal with.

Carmel California! So high cost of living area as well. But our food was amazing and I’m so glad we prioritized it.

Ours was under $25 per person (cake and alcohol not included) I think total (including rentals and 3 servers) we were right around $3,000 for 65 people.
Fruit and veggies with dip for cocktail hr
carved turkey and pork loin, mashed potatoes bar (regular and sweet), mixed veggies, salad, and rolls for dinner with lemonade
hot cocoa and coffee bar with dessert
i searched and searched to find this caterer everything else in my area was crazy expensive (80+ per person). It was delish and we got SO many compliments on our food!

It depends on how many guests you are having but those quotes don't seem unreasonable.

$9,000 for the food - approx $12,500 with open bar. 125 guests. We have 4 appetizers for cocktail hour, a buffet dinner with carving station, and a chef-attended dessert station. Includes plates, flatware, linen napkins, gratuity. Honestly I almost have a stroke every time I think about it. Most expensive meal of my life!

I can't go to fast food for $9.00 per person. Where on Earth are you having your wedding and for how many people?
