How much time to take off work?

Little Star, on April 12, 2018 at 5:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 23
So my wedding isn’t until next April, but I like to be super prepared. Are any of you taking time off work before your wedding, or just working through? I was thinking about taking the week of my wedding off so I could deal with any last minute planning. I’m also looking for a new job currently so this has been kinda stressful as well. If you guys have any tips on job hunting and wedding planning I’ll gladly hear them out!

I only took the day off before my wedding. The only thing I had to do was pick up my dress, so I didn't need a whole week of doing nothing. The event coordinating company we hired had all wedding items 3 weeks before my date.

I’m getting married next May and was wondering the same. I know a lot of people take off the whole week before but I don’t understand what for?? What are people doing that last minute?

I don't have any tips on job hunting while planning (I have read a few threads about it though, and it sounds like it can be done without much trouble). But anyways, I plan to only take off the Friday before the wedding (which will be Saturday) and the entire next week for the honeymoon.

I feel like if I take off the whole week before I would go stir crazy! Haha

I'm only able to take the day before off. For this reason, I've hired a DOC and will have her handle anything in the month leading up to the wedding. If I could, I'd probably take two days just to have some down time and get my nails done.

Personally, I had a lot to do the last week -- I was putting together welcome bags for the hotels (using homemade goods, so couldn't be done ahead of time), shopping for gifts for my bridesmaids (could have been done earlier, but ran out of time), picking up my dress, getting my hair and nails done, and dropping off stuff at the hotel and church! I also had family in town that I wanted to spend time with, so I was grateful to have the extra time off.

I don't have any tips on job hunting and wedding planning, but there have been plenty of people on here who have done both. Maybe try searching the forums?

I'm only taking 2 days off before my wedding. Partially because I can't afford to take a ton of PTO, but also because I don't want to just be sitting around twiddling my thumbs that whole week.

I'm taking off about 3 days before. We don't have an event planner and everything is self/family catered, so that gives me time to go over last minute details, and be able to pick up anything out of town while the extended family cooks.

We're so lucky that our venue to letting us come in the night before to decorate, so the morning of can be focused solely on getting ready and finishing up dinner.

Then of course the wedding night, and the day after. Our honeymoon is about two weeks later, so I'll go back to work until the day before we leave.

I wouldn't know what to do with a whole week. We've taken off the Thursday and Friday before the wedding on Saturday. Initially I was just planning on taking the Friday, but we've since moved and it will be a 5 hour drive. So travelling/visiting with parents on Thursday then set up the venue and getting nails done etc on Friday. Then a week after for the honeymoon.

I started my new job in February. Job hunting while planning wasn't a problem and you have plenty of time that your holidays shouldn't be an issue

I’m taking Thursday and Friday off (Saturday is the wedding and Friday is the rehearsal). I don’t anticipate having a lot to do but I live 2.5 hours from the wedding venue so I’m excited to come back to my hometown, get some pampering, and spend time with the fam!

My wedding is September 22, 2018

I will be off work September 18- September 26- this gives me a few days to get there and get last minute details (its about 2.5 hours away) plus a few days for a mini moon. Our honeymoon won’t be until winter.

I’m also not sure what I would do with a week off but I’ve heard of people doing that. My current job doesn’t offer PTO but a respite would be nice. I have a caregiving job and it takes a lot out of me. However, I’m hoping to have a new job within the next few months.

I'm taking the whole week off but mostly because my job is extremely stressful and I have a lot of family coming from out of town that leave right after the wedding

Fh and I are going on a honeymoon right after so I need 2 weeks of for that. I'm only taking 1 extra day before the wedding. Since we're getting married on a Sunday, I'll have 2 days for any errands.

My wedding is next November I have to take the day before off, otherwise I would be getting off work at 7am the day of the wedding and that just wouldn't be good for anyone. I am also taking three weeks after the wedding off two for the honeymoon and one to deal with after wedding business (opening gifts, sending thank you cards, retrieving animals from the various pet sitters, dinners with both our families and just start to settle into married life)

We are getting married next May. We currently live in Los Angeles, but getting married in the NYC area. I work remote most of the time and my bday is the weekend before our wedding. So, I’m flying back the week before, working from the east coast Mon-Weds and then taking off Thurs-Friday.

Not sure what my fiancé is doing...he will be flying back most likely that Weds.

I’m taking the week before and after off but mostly bc I have a ton of “use or lose” leave by the end of gr year (wedding is in october). FH is taking two days on either side. I hope I won’t have a ton to do but want to be able to enjoy and get my nails done and pack (semi out of town, 2 hours away).
