How much time did you allot for pictures?

I'm working on a schedule for the photographer, but I'm not sure how to use the 8 hours of photography. I don't want to miss out on the cocktail hour because I was thinking I could try to greet everyone during that time (instead of receiving line and visiting tables). FH doesn't want to see me before the ceremony, but I think I could talk him into it so I'm not counting out first look photos if it fits the schedule better. Is an hour before the ceremony and an hour after enough for photos with FH, family, and bridal party?

9-12: Hair (my sister can take a few getting ready shots with her fancy camera)

12-12:30ish: Eat

12:30-2: Makeup

3-4pm: I can check into hotel suite and BP will get dressed there. Meet photographer so she can shoot pics of my dress before I put it on

4-5pm:

5-6pm: Ceremony

6-7pm:

7-8pm: Cocktail hour

8-12am: Reception

It IS a lot of girls. I might give them the option of going to a salon nearby if they prefer. Also, have girls do their makeup while they are waiting their turn for hair.

Luckily my dress takes about 1 minute to get on. I just have a zipper and fake buttons.

I think I'll ask some close aunts if they will take care of church decorations. I'll have bows for the pews made and flower arrangements ready the day before.

I will definitely need snacks! I'm hypoglycemic and need to eat about every 3 hours.

I was just thinking about this to when I booked my photographer i am half thinking that I may have to hire a second photographer myself. My wedding is a year away but you gave me something to think about. Right now I just want to get my bridal party on the same page. Good luck honey with your planning

According to almanac.com, the sun should set at 7:54pm. So I think this revised timeline should be good.

I don't want FH to see me before the ceremony so we're going to do our photos during the cocktail hour while our guests mingle, drink and eat appetizers. My photographer will also be there taking photos of me getting my makeup on etc.

We are going to be doing our photos in the two hours between the ceremony and the reception dinner. We will not be joining our guests for cocktail hour since we would like to be formally introduced before dinner begins and have the speeches. How many hours after dinner will you be able to utilize your venue? It might be wise to just do the photos and not join your guests until dinner that way you can get everything done and mingle with your guests after dinner/during dancing, etc.
