How much money should I spend on the gift for our Officiant?

We are having the pastor of our church officiate the wedding. There is no "charge" but we want to get him a gift of appreciation. How much would you recommend spending?

I would spend the same amount on the officiant that you plan to spend on the wedding party gifts. We are limiting ourselves to $50 or less per person. We, too, have an officiant that is not charging us (my future father in law) and we will be purchasing him a gift of appreciation as well.

I would say $50 would be sufficient. Unless you are really close to him, I wouldn't spend more than that.

My uncle is officiating our wedding. We are on a very tight budget. We are getting him a $50 gift card to a restaurant that he likes.

We're putting this poem on cardstock and putting it in a nice frame for our officiant. The title of the poem is his name and we believe that it would be more sentimental for him then money since he asked for none.

We might not remember every word you say
When we look into your eyes
And you say those words,
"I now pronounce you man and wife."

But because of the blessings
And prayers you prayed
God will go with us
Every day along life’s way.

Thank you for being the one
Who united us on this day….
You’ll always mean so much to us
Long after our wedding day.
