We are trying to budget for invitations, but have no idea how much we should consider for postage! Any helpful brides want to share what you have spent per invite? Your advice is much appreciated!!!!

Good question- I was just wondering that myself because I'm sending out my invites next week.

About $25... I made sure to do my research on USPS rules for mailing letters, so that I could use the 49 cent stamps... And we are not having a sit-down meal (just afternoon cake, refreshments, and hor d'oeuvres), so no RSVP cards. I have about 85 guests, 35-40 invites, so I got 50 stamps to be safe (I'll use any left over for thank-you's)

    USPS guidelines:

Sent ours last week. Came out to .70 per US, .98 for Canada and 2.00 for Jamaica. We have a lined outer envelope, invite card with backing, info card, RSVP card and RSVP envelope.

No clue yet, but our STDs were $0.70 each so I'm assuming at least that much. Save yourself a headache and take a complete invitation set with you to the Post Office and have it weighed

^ Definitely do what Maltese suggested.

I'm hoping to get mine by with a regular 49 cent stamp... I decided to skip any of the fun stuff like belly bands to try and not pay extra postage. They feel light enough, so fingers crossed when I get around to taking them!

Keep in mind that square invitations will cost more no matter the weight because of the non-standard size.

    .46 centers per invitation (we used a size 10 envelope) so .46 x 375 invitations = $172.5

Save the Dates/Engagement Party Invites were post cards so .34 cents a piece. .34 stamps x 375 postcards = $127.5

Thank you notes .49 per thank you note because forever stamp postage went up.

I spent about $150 on 50 invites and 50 rsvp cards, with some extra.

I have pocket style and because there is a ribbon tied into a bow on around the invite, it makes the envelope a little bulky. I believe the post office said around $0.92 because they will have to stamp each one since it won't go through the machine nicely. I'm fine with that, less tears and chances for the envelopes to get crappy.

Oh yeah, don't forget the stamp for the RSVP, so that was .49, I guess that's what stamps are going for these days?

For my husband and I's wedding we hand delivered (or mailbox delivered) invitations to those in town. Saved us a TON of money.

We also only included a handful of SASE inside the invite and had most of our guests RSVP online or by phone. The SASE were dedicated to those (mostly older) guests who were not as tech-savy.

We tried pricing at UPS first but that was slated at $2.88 per invite (AGH!!!!), so we are going to try the post office. They said it was that much because of the kind of envelope we decided to use (A9 and handmade invites), so it can only go as separate parcels. We have 95 invites and 153 people on our list.

We are going to hand deliver a few, but many are going across the country.
