Okay...I've read it before on here from others...the tip is: Take a fully finished/completed invitation, envelope and all to the Post Office. Do IT. Picked up a completed invitation...officially weighed it in my hand and declared to FW: This has GOT to be $0.45. It barely weighs anything. Then I remembered what people wrote..so we walked to our neighborhood post office to get postage stamps and have it weighed officially. I told the USPS smugly, " 45 cents, right?". "No sir...$0.65. Do want stamps with that? Smiley winking. So we promptly bought the $0.65 stamps along with 45cent ones for the RSVP envelopes and went on our marry (pun intended) way. Moral is: WEIGH your invites!! Smiley smile

This is the standard stamp requirements for shape and size.

and postcard regulations - careful not to put any important wording at the bottom because the post office will slap on a barcode that might cover the words.

I received a wedding invitation that had four 45 cent stamps on it! Large, thick envelope!

I wish I could have paid $.65 for my invitations. I'm stuck paying $1.10 and I still need to get postage for the RSVP cards. I'm glad that I priced my invitations beforehand because that would have been an ugly surprise.

I just mailed mine this week. Cost 65 cents. Not heavy, but because it was the square 6 inch size. I took mine to the post office and waited at the empty counter for 5 minutes listening to all the workers cutting up in the back. I finally noticed a little bell to ring to get someones attention (yes like I 'm back in the 50's) After buying them I asked the clerk please to hand cancel. She acted like I wanted her to chop her arm off and responded to me saying "we don't do that here!". I asked where can I take them to hand cancel to which she responded "I don't know. I doubt any of the post offices will do that". So I left, came back after hours, said a prayer and dumped them in the mail bin. I surely didn't want to hand them to her I was afraid she would "accidently" stomp on them and somehow they'd end up in the trash. Smiley smile So far I've heard some people received their invites while others are still waiting on theirs. let's hope they all make it. Sorry had to vent.
