What type of bustle did you get. I was charged $220.00 for my bustle, hem, and my shoulder straps being taken in. My bustle only has five darts because of the type of bustle I got. Do you know which type of bustle or how many darts will be in it?

It really depends on your area and the boutique. Some charge per point and others will charge one price for bustling the skirt depending on the type.

Now if you are buying a bustle aka a victorian skirt support, $250 is a tad pricey unless it's made of silk.

It's a 5 point bustle regular bustle (not a French or anything like that(. This is in NJ I felt like it was a lot just to sew five buttons and 5 loops onto a gown.

Btw the 250 is only the bustle, nothing else.

Besides the bustle; they suggested putting boning in the top portion of my gown they want almost 700 when all is said and done. I almost fell over lol. I don't need any hem or taking in of the gown so I don't get why everything else is so damn expensive!!

I'm paying $250 for a hem and bustle (we decided on French with probably 7 points after the price was set) on a 7 layer ball gown in Carmel, CA (very HCOL area). I was also quoted $400 for just that somewhere else. Maybe shop around a little?

In San Diego at David's Bridal, Mine was a 6 point bustle for under $100, but shortening the lace hem was almost $150 alone.

Depends what kind of bustle. If you have a thick or delicate dress it can be more and esp if it's a French bustle. They kill you in alterations.

Mine was less than $100 but it was in a super low cost of living area.

I was quoted $400. I think that's high so I'm looking into seamstresses by my parents. They live in a lower cost of living area than I do

Yikes. That's high to me. Taking my dress in 2-ish sizes and a bustle was $130.

Hmm not sure how much just a bustle would cost at my bridal shop, as they have a base package for alterations that includes taking in/out, hem, and bustle for $500. Anything else's is extra. I'm in NYC, so obviously HCOL, but I went with a small, independent bridal shop. Not sure what the other seamstresses/alterations people charge. I think there's an alterations tab on the WW vendor tab. There may be some prices listed there. ETA: it's just a "dress and attire" tab, but I think I've seen alterations prices there, too.

My seamstress charged 250 for all alterations (3 rounds) including bustle. It's a lotttt of work for them to do that by hand, I thought it was a good price

I think that's a bit expensive for just a bustle, OP. Definitely get some suggestions for another seamstress.

My dress shop is called Paisley Bridal. Not sure if they will do just alterations, but I'd give them a call anyway. http://www.paisleybridal.com/

There's also Diana Deane, whose alterations start at $200. https://www.dianadeane.com/alterations-1

I have a flat rate for all of my alterations but this doesn't sound too crazy.
