How much for venue deposit?

Mónica, on September 12, 2017 at 11:12 AM Posted in Planning 1 32

What percentage (give or take) should I expect to pay as deposit for a venue? I'm trying to start defining my budget. Help!

Every place is different. Some is a set price, some is a percentage. Mine was $1000.

I think this probably varies a lot. My venue required a deposit of $3,250. We were given dates in our contract of when the additional deposits are due, and the amount.

A venue I looked at, but did not pick, only required a $500 deposit. So I think it really just depends.

Ours was $750, but we also had to pay the coordinator's fee, so altogether it came to just over $1000.

Our venue had a flat fee of $2,000. All venues are different. Just start calling around to the venues you think you might like and ask them.

It's going to differ from place to place and there is no way to average that.

We looked at places that had a deposit as low as $200 all the way up to the venue we choose which had a minimum deposit of 1500. Ask very venue you visit or inquire with, as well as if the deposit can be made via cash, check or credit card.

It depends on the venue. Our venue only required 25% of the estimated total.

Depending on the venue, really. I put $1500 down on mine, but others I looked at, gave me a percentage, so I would say start looking at venues you're interested in, check prices and assume that about 5 to 10% will have to be put down, to kind of help with a budgeting plan.

Our venue required 1/2 of the total cost, but like PP have said, this is going to vary.

I think it is different depending on the venue. But make sure you ask bc I was blindsided due to my ignorance. I expected something in the neighborhood of $1000 but it ended up being $3700. I wasn't prepared for that and I kinda freaked out. Luckily my venue was willing to accept half up front and then the other half 30 days later.

Our deposot was half of the total cost, and came out to $1,450.

I think all venues require different deposits ours required a $1000 deposit, but because we booked ours almost two years in advance it was a $500 deposit

It totally depends on your venue. We paid $2500 up front to book the venue, which was just the booking fee. We have to pay 50% of the estimated food and beverage a month out and the remainder is charged the day after the wedding.

No average. But we paid $2,000 for our deposit, which is about 25% of what our total would be.

Mine was $1,000 but that was also 50% of the rental space. I looked at a venue that wanted 50% of the total, which would've been $4,000 up front (FH did not like that one!). For event spaces, I've found it to be 50%. If it includes catering, it varies
