How much for his suit?

Just wondered.. Since the dresses usually are really important and expensive, how do your FH feel about their suits? Is a wedding suit any different than a normal suit? Do they cost usually more? Compared to your dresses, how much does a suit cost? 1/2, 1/3 or much less? My Fiance really does not...

My Fiance really does not care about what he wears, but i fear he will regret it later and that`s why i want to make sure he gets something appropriate. Thanks in advance for any advise.

We also got FH a new suit (from Men's Wearhouse) rather than renting. He wanted to keep his clothes too! His suit, shirt, shoes and belt together totaled around $700, which is about half the cost of my dress alone. His is a regular suit in linen from their normal line. That said, we did not get a jacket, just a vest. Had we gotten the jacket I think it was another $200 or so? We may still get it even though he won't want it for the wedding day.

FH will most likely never wear a suit and he didn't want his groomsmen in suits either so he will be the only one in a jacket. He bought black pants ($60), a grey shirt ($19), then we are renting his vest ($30), renting a tie ($15), and renting him a suit jacket ($70). He already had black shoes and socks. The place we are renting from doesn't offer grey shirts to rent and we really wanted our guys in that so we found them at JC Penny's when they were buy 1 get 1 for a penny and we got quite a bargain!

My FH's suit is a $500 Kenneth Cole suit at macys, but we waited for a good sale and with coupons we were able to buy his and all the GMs suits for a little over $500! It'll be our gift to them (and my peace of mind knowing that they'll all actually match!)

... keep an eye out for sales!

We rented fh's at men's warehouse for around $300. His rental was free though with our groomsmen rentals. We chose rental because he wanted tails and we're military so he typically doesn't wear suits or tuxes.

My FH is renting from the Black Tux. The price is $190, and he has a $25 off coupon. This is about 1/7 of my dress.

@Emily, I wholeheartedly agree! Frankly, I think the dresses should be rented since they are only being worn once. Even if he doesn't use a suit for work, surely there will be occasions where he will need a nice suit. I never understood why guys rented suits but it was considered almost criminal if a woman rented a wedding dress. Just my humble opinion.

We are spending like $220 after all the discounts have been applied from Men's Warehouse on my FH's tux. I spent around $1700 before alterations. It will never be an equal value of the two, unless the bride is going for a super simple dress. But just make sure you both get a good deal in the process!

He spent $250 on his suit and my dress was over $2K...but we are both super happy. If you have a Men's Wearhouse near by; I'd reach out to them and specifically ask what deal they have for a groom. We got the suit for half off just by asking what they had to offer!

His tux was $79 to rent. We won a free tux from a bridal show so all we had to do was pay for the accessories.

His suit was $700-ish, plus another $100 or so for tailoring. He wears suits a lot for work, and that's about what he typically spends. We considered doing a custom suit for about 3 times that amount, but he decided he didn't want to spend that much money right now.

His suit cost more than double what my dress did, but I wanted something super simple and my mom is sewing it so that's a pretty unique circumstance. Shoes were about $200 for each of us.

DH and the GM bought their suits from Jos. A. Banks with the buy 1 get 3 free deal. My DH put all the suits on his credit card and the guys split the cost 9 ways (8 GM plus groom). They were responsible for their own alterations (pants on nice suits come un-hemmed). They came out to $211 each plus they rented white shirts and their vests for another $40. They wore their own shoes and DH gifted them their ties and pocket squares.

We went yesterday and picked out his suit from Indochino -- it was about $500. In comparison, my dress was $2500 (eek).

My fiancé wanted a custom tux for $800!!! I had to remind him that it's unlikely he'll be wearing a tux again anytime soon, ended up renting for $250.

I'm from LA, CA. We went to the fashion district in Downtown and we purchased DH 3 piece suit for $140. All the GM bought their suits there as well. It's an Italian suit that just needed to be hemmed and we were able to get that done next door for $10. We had a DW, so there was no way we could have rented. Most of our BP was OOT for 1-2 weeks for the wedding.
