Ladies!
need your input - how much did your alterations cost?

I am getting a bustle put in and I need the bust & shoulders part of my dress taken in as well. I have a fitted / mermaid wedding gown

Nothing major. Thanks in advance

Mine are capped at 295, but I am not sure what alterations I need yet.

However these things vary greatly depending on salon and the general col in your area.

I have three dresses for various wedding events and I was quoted alteration costs when I purchased the dresses. Two were a flat fee ($500/$700) and the other was a flat percentage of the cost of the dress (15%).

Mine is a fit and flare dress. I had the top taken in 1 dress size, had cups sewn in, a 5 point bustle, spot cleaning, and steaming. $100 *hallelujah*

Because I purchased during a trunk show, my alterations were free and I am getting custom removable lace sleeves added to mine. Can't wait to see it with the sleeves in March ^_^. My hips were actually too tight and I couldn't sit down so they have to take it out a bit. however my top is always suffering and it had to be taken in a little.

My gown Smiley smile How much did your alterations cost? ! 1

EDIT: Gown was less than $2500. Also getting custom cups added. Got my veil from Amazon for $17 so that may have evened things out a bit ^_^

Hahaha I was so ripped off compared to all of you. Mine were $1100. I had to have it taken from a size 14 to a size 8. I am having straps put on for dancing. I have to have a pocket added as I am a diabetic and need to put my pump somewhere, i need to get hemed, and I am getting it steamed. This girl is really good but I def got ripped off

Mine will be around $80. I only need it hemmed and my train is much too short to bustle. I think mine is as cheap as it gets.

My alterations were hemming my dress, fixing a broken hook at the back of my dress, adding in a bustle and fixing the bust of my dress and it all cost 197 dollars

Just under $600. I was in shock. I am getting it hemmed, a bustle put in, and it taken in a little bit at the bust. I think it was so expensive because the dress that I got has a lot of different layers on the skirt, with a finished edge to it, so it’s a bit trickier than a typical hem. My place also didn’t have a cap on alteration costs like some other places.

Honestly, mine were about $700 to hem, bustle, take in, add a belt and make it less of an a-line and into a more mermaid look. That last part cost me the most.

I had it hemmed, taken in, added cups and a bustle. She only charged me $500 but I gave her $600 because she did hand beading that no one else could do! (She’s a cute old Italian woman who is a true master)

Mine will come out to $225 for cleaning, hemming and adjusting the size, it was too large on me.
