My FH and I are disagreeing on the cost of our honeymoon. We both would like to go to Aruba and are looking to go 8-10 days in January/Feb 2015. We are looking at all-inclusive resorts because we both like to indulge while on vaca. It looks like for about 9 days in January it will be like $6500 for...

He thinks this is way too much to spend.

What did you all spend for your honeymoon? Is $6500 really ridiculous??

We just booked 10 nights at an all inclusive in Grenada and it was $6,800 with everything included.

No tipping allowed, all transportation, food, alchohol, air fare, room, even checked bags) every cent is included in that amount.

Now for the next 10 months we can worry about paying for it! Lol

We paid $2,500 for the both of us for a week on the amafi coast in Italy with an additional three days in Rome and a day in Florence. Flight was free for both of us with our airline miles. We probably spent another $600 on food and excursions. It was worth every penny! We are going back for our two year wedding anniversary but this time on a cruise for 10 days which will include Spain France Italy and Greece. It's costing us around $3k total and got free flighs with miles.

I know this is awhile ago, but we were budgeting $9000 for 13 nights in Bali. After looking at hotel prices and spending a good amount of time in Seminyak, I'm not sure we can afford it. Pretty depressing seeing as I already booked the flights and really don't want to stay in crappy hotels on our honeymoon. =(

We will probably spend between $5k - $7k. We haven’t made a final decision but it will probably be Turks and Caicos or Mexico. We are keeping the wedding to around $10k so that we can splurge on the honeymoon. I don’t think your budget is unreasonable, but that is of course dependent upon your personal budget.

Personally, I think that depends on your budget and how much of the wedding you are paying for. To me, I'd rather spend more on the honeymoon than the ceremony because ultimately this is a celebration between me amd my man so I want most of our "fanancial focus" to be on the part where we get to enjoy things and a little less on ither people coming to watch us become one. So far my FH and are looking at $5,500 for hawaii after around 3k for the wedding.

Leah...it's been a few years ago now, but we knew we wanted to go some place warm and to an all inclusive but we were on a VERY tight budget. After doing my research it was pretty clear that the most cost effective honeymoon in the caribbean was Mexico. I didn't want to go to Cancun so we decided on Playa Del Carmen. I went on Orbitz.com and searched the vacation packages with flights and all inclusive resorts. I found a great all inclusive hotel and flight for $625/person. I then went on Retailmenot.com and typed in "Orbitz" in the search engine to see if they had any coupons for Orbitz and they had a $150 off coupon for any vacation package over $1000. I applied that coupon at checkout on Orbitz and it worked. Our entire honeymoon cost $1100 total with flight and all inclusive hotel. Once we arrived at the Hotel, we told them we were honeymooners and asked if they would be willing to upgrade our room and our all inclusive package to the "VIP" alcohol package and they did. We were then given a nicer room on the ocean and able to get top shelf alcohol all week. I just believe that it never hurts to ask. Anyway....hope that helps some. :-) Congratulations!!!!

I know this is an old post, but Did you book your trip through a travel agent or just yourselves? My FH would love to go to Ireland or Scotland.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Husband and I used our airline miles with united. We just paid landing fees.we stayed a week in Sorrento, Italy at Hotel Corallo and then we went up to Rome for a few days. We booked everything on our own. We stayed at a little boutique hotel in Rome near the French embassy. The Italy, Greece, Spain, France trip was on the celebrity equinox in 2016, just the two of us no kids. We also used our miles for the flight. I highly recommend the chase sapphire, chase united mileage plus and aa advantage cards. We are currently with our 2 kids in Stockholm and Poland. Let me know if you have any more questions! Good luck!
