Hi girls! So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. Hi girls!
So I am in the process of selecting my dress and I know exactly what I want when I see it. This wasn’t the exception, I saw the beautiful dress by Berta and I completely fell in love. What wasn’t so lovely about it? The price, it is about $6900 in most stores. I gave up on it but whenever I went to try dresses I kept looking for something that looked like that and, not surprisingly, they just didn’t compare. A few months passed and today I found a great deal which is still pretty out if my budget ($3000) but was priced about 35% less than the original price. It is from a trustworthy boutique and they assured me it has all the tags, it even it’s my size! Anyways, the point is that I am not sure if I could justify spending so much on a dress I am only wearing for a few hours. Any advice? How much did you spend on yours?

The real truth is this: that money comes from somewhere. Is there somewhere in your budget that you are willing to give less money to in order to buy the dress? If buying this dress will negatively impact the rest of your wedding, as hard as it is, you should say no to it. It really is more important that people have good food and some fun then that you have an expensive dress. If you can afford to have it and still give people the experience you want them to have, then go for it. Just weigh out what you will have to sacrifice for it.

I only spent 1500 on my dress roz la Klein. The bridal store sold designer dresses that have been discontinued and sell them for half the price.

I went way overboard and made it a weekend getaway! This is a lifetime experience and you do it the way you can look back on and say you had the best time finding THE DRESS! I went to New York (Kleinfeld) and it was an absolute Dream! I spent about 3,500 and my budget was 5,000. I also bought a second dress for $100 to change into (at the end for exist)! Happy Shopping and have the best time!

I spent $1500 on my dress, from the Enzoani Blue collection. However, I’m going to end up spending a lot more on it by the time it’s finished, since I am planning on doing several alterations to make it exactly what I want (adding sleeves, lowering the back, adding buttons, etc) on top of normal alterations, which usually run $500-$800.

I had never planned to spend more than $1000 total on my wedding dress, but if it can be exactly what I want, it’s worth it to me. I’m going to have to see it in pictures for the rest of my life, after all!

My budget was $1,500, but I actually only spent $500 which gave me extra money for a fancy hair pin and belt.

I found mine online for $27. I'm buying it straight from the manufacturer because it retails for $689.

Do it!!! You only live once, you only get married once!! I am in the same boat. The budget for my dress was $3,000 and I found one that was about $5,000. I looked online and found one that were used but people are willing to sell me for half price which is about $2,500. With alterations and everything it will be right in my budget. I know it's not brand new, and it's already been used but I just make sure that the people are still married and happy because of the energy of taking someone's dress that might be divorced is different for me.

I had set a budget for more more then $1000.... the bridal consultant said she had a dress in mind to put on me after we had tried a few others. She didn’t tell me the price until it was on a crying because it’s definitely the one (the price made me cry even more because I momentarily thought that I wasn’t going to be able to afford it). It was $1300. I eventually said “f it” because I really wanted it. Turns out when I returned that Monday to work... I got a promotion so that extra $300 really wasn’t too big of a deal.

People always say, "You only wear it once, so why break the bank?" I find that annoying! You get ONE SHOT at your wedding day so if you absolutely want that dress and you're comfortable spending that much money on it, I think you should do it. You will look back at it in pictures over the next 50+ years and it will make you smile and feel beautiful. Plus you'll have no regrets. And who knows, maybe it'll be so timeless and beautiful that your daughter will want to wear it one day. I say follow your heart!

I think it’s a personal preference. If you can swing it, it being in your size seems like fate!! I only spent $1250 on mine. You can always try selling it after to make up some of the money?

I fell in love with a dress that was $2,000. Even on the hanger it was stunning. However, once I tried it on I didn't like it for me. It was too busy. My suggestion would be to try it on first and make sure you still are in love with the dress while wearing it. The dress I did buy ended up costing me $1,100.00

    Best of Luck!

Originally I was going to order a dress online (resale sites and such) and then alter to make into my dream dress. I was talked into going in and trying on dresses to, at the very least, find my size range. I then fell for a completely different style than I had ever even looked into. My budget was $1000. I found THE DRESS at a shop for $1400, was too far out of my price range before basic alterations so I actually searched and found another shop that carried the same exact dress for $1040 and then they gave me the $40 off to help me stay in budget! It’s perfect and I’m glad I didn’t give up.

My budget is 2k but I’m hoping to spend less than that. I’ve found a few dresses (Stella York) that I like that are quoted at $1500 but I think If I can find them on sale that’ll save me about $1k which can be used towards alterations and veil.

Although my fiancé said I shouldn’t skimp and should spend whatever I needed to, I cannot justify spending that much on something I will only wear once. I posted on Facebook that I was willing to borrow a dress and many of my friends offered. One of which just got married last year so the dress is still in style and it’s gorgeous! All I have to do is get it cleaned and hemmed a bit which will all end up costing about $300. I also found a “dancing” dress for the reception at David’s for only $200. So all in all spending around $500 instead of thousands!
