How much did you pay to get married in your church?

I hope it is not too personal but I am truly interested in knowing the average price for a couple getting married in their church. We are tithe paying members of our church and we were charged $600. The pastor is currently looking into making provisions to the price because it seemed a little high...

We're getting married in Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral. It's $1000 for the church, $475 for the organist and cantor, and $360 for marriage prep classes.

To have it in the church, it's $200. If we had wanted to use the pianist and choir, we would've owed them an additional $200.

Our church charges $1,200 for non-members and $800.00 for members. This includes the church, organist, sound man, flowers, and a DOC

Being a member of the church costs $0 Smiley smile

But we are going to give the pastor $100 as a sort of offering. We even had to take pre-marital counseling. Still no cost to us. I'm Methodist if that means anything. I think Catholic churches run differently.

This post makes me feel better - I thought ours was high (but I was kinda expecting it - we're in an expensive city, our church is gorgeous and on our old University campus), but now it seems less outrageous seeing a few others.

We're paying $500 for the space, $150 for the classes, another $150 for the "coordinator" there (non-optional) and $675 for music (we added a violinist, and we're only having a cantor/no solos). So total $1,475.00... but I'm so excited and I think it's worth every penny!

It seems like it really depends on the policies of whatever church you attend, we love our church and couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else

We are paying $1200 for the church includes programs, day of coordinator for site, use of the space, rehearsal, marriage prep classes and two required retreats, etc. Plus another $350 for the organist and cantor both of which are required, so I don't know why they don't include that...

I see it also as a donation to the church and part of preserving an important landmark in our city and nation! (it's the country's first basilica)

$450. That includes everything for the mass/church (music director who plays the organ, cantor, alter servers, priest and our one day pre-marriage "conference" required by the archdiocese of Hartford.)

We are members, so it was only $150. I thought that was crazy...but after seeing some of these posts... we obviously came out good!

We are bringing in our own pianist for $150 and we are doing marriage counseling for free.

Tithing member here, our priest cut down on what he could. We still paid $450 for misc fees, need to pay about $200 to the flower guild and $175 to the organist. He made it so we weren't charged for use of the parish hall for our reception.
