How much did you pay for catering?

How much is everyone spending on catering and what are you having? I just like hearing all the different meals everyone serves!

Chicken, beef, and steak for the meat, beans, rice, lettuce, tomatos, onions, olives, cheese sour cream, taco sauce, salsa, hard shells, soft shells, and chips. Right now that is what all we have decided.

We are getting married in Puerto Rico with a guest list of 100. So far we have received two quotes and both of them for 5-6 hors d'oeuvres and two meat buffet with salad, bread, and sides came out to $6,500-$6,800 not including drinks! Needless to say my mother has been doing research and luckily we have family that live in PR that can find us other local catering companies. When it is all said and done we hope to stay within $3,500 for food and will definitely update Wedding Wire in a separate forum when I find affordable catering for brides looking in Puerto Rico!

    2k for 90 people.
Red beans n rice, yams w/ cinnamon, Mexican corn bread, vegetable tray, fruit tray, spinach dip. 💩 We are vegetarians and live near the swamps so that's the best we could do.

I was pleasantly surprised! It's always interesting to me to see how much things costs elsewhere. Happy to be in my area right about now! Lol!

We paid for two food trucks for 4 full hours $15 per person/ we had 113 people in attendance. This included 4 servers (2 from each truck) doing passed apps and small plates all night as well.

We are in NJ but got married right outside of Philadelphia.

Yes! When I look at the cost of certain wedding items I’m like okay I can’t complain. I’ve found catering as cheap as 9.50 a person. I know some areas that’s not possible

We're paying $12.25 per person and were having baked mostaccioli, baked chicken, sweedish meatballs, mashed potatoes with gravy, mac and cheese, corn, mixed veggies, and then we can choose 6 different types of salads/sides (macaroni salad, potato salad, cole slaw, cottage cheese, veggie tray, etc) the food is delicious!

Ours is a steal! Not counting alcohol (through a different service) it's $74/person, fully gourmet, gluten free, and including the service fees and gratuity. Prepared on site and served plated.

Appetizers: Colorado Elk Sausage, Grilled Cheese and tomato soup shooters, caprese skewers, and stuffed shrimp

Salad: I can't remember details but there's apples, walnuts and gorgonzola Smiley laugh

Dinner: Roasted Beef Sirloin with burgundy wine sauce or goat cheese stuffed chicken, breaded and baked. Sides: Twice baked potato with cheese and bacon. Agave roasted carrots

I'M LITERALLY SO PUMPED FOR THE FOOD. The best part! We are getting 2 trays of chicken nuggets (kids meal) delivered to our honeymoon suite for after the wedding! I'm going to enjoy chicken nuggets, an old fashioned, and a beautiful hot tub with my husband.

Who did you go through? Is it cheaper to go through a venue's approved caterer or an outside caterer at a BYO food venue?

Sadly, our venue does not offer in-house catering so we went with a preferred vendor of the venue. The company is called Triton Catering in NC.

That's what we were thinking of doing also. Was it more cost effective for you guys? Cause some of the quotes I'm getting are just as expensive
