How much Beer and Liquor to order for wedding?!

Samantha, on August 9, 2019 at 11:12 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 4

We are looking at having almost 275 guests for the wedding. The venue allows us to bring in our own booze. We got a quote from a liquor store and it just seems very low and I do not want to run out of drinks! All guests are 21 and over and at most are heavy drinkers. We are doing a full bar. If anyone has any input on this I would love to hear it! i have listed below what we currently have.

Miller bottles 18pk- 8

Bud Btls 20pk- 7

Bush Btls 20pk- 8

Pinot Noir - 40 btls

Chardonnay- 40

titos- 25

beam 1.75L- 6

jack 1.75L- 5

captain morgan- 5

Gin- 5

I’m not sure how much this will help but I just helped my cousin do a run to Delaware for her 250 person wedding. Idk if she’d classify us as “heavy drinkers” (we have some family that are wildly Christian and don’t drink) but for a five hour reception this is what she bought:

    12 24-packs of Yuengling
    12 24-packs of Blue Moon
    8 12-packs of Guinness
    6 12-packs of Bud Lite

    4 1.75 L bottles of Triple Sec
    8 1.75 L bottles of Bacardi Rum
    8 1.75 L bottles of Jack
    8 1.75 L bottles of Jose Cuervo
    8 1.75 L bottles of Svedka
    6 1.75 L bottles of Seagrams Gin
    6 1.75 L bottles of Jim Beam
    3 1 L bottles of Hennessy

    24 1.5L bottles of Cabernet
72 750 ml bottles of Chardonnay
50 750 ml bottles of Prosecco
40 750 ml bottles of Rose

    Hope this helps!

I'm not sure if this is the exact video, but this lady is a wedding planner and talks about how to determine things like this in a lot of her videos Smiley smile

There are also a few drink calculators online that could you double-check against. For example: https://www.evite.com/pages/party/drink-calculator

    Hey Samantha!!

Have you inquired in the liquor store whether they will accept unopened returns after the wedding is over? If you are able to bring back bottles that have not been opened, it would be a lot easier to over buy to ensure that there is enough drinks for your entire reception.

You should also consider how long your reception will be. This will inform how much beer and liquor you will need.
