Way too much haha. I'm having a semi-destination wedding (from CT, wedding in Nashville) and will be flying my NYC hairstylist down to do my bridal hair. I think it was about $1200 for my hair (two styles), six bridesmaids, and my flower girl and then the cost of flight/hotel.

So I have another question, I know some hair stylist have a trial and wedding day hair package together. But what if during the trial, I didn't connect with my stylist, didn't like how she styled it, and etc. Am I stuck with that hair stylist since the trial was included in a package?

I am paying $250 for both hair and makeup - same stylist doing both. I think this is largely dependent on your location.

I will mention I charge $80 trial $150 so for typical party with 5 bride'smaids and flower girl I'd charge about $700 in Philadelphia

My hair and makeup is $300 for day of. She's charging the BMs 65/service. As for not liking it, I think that would depend on if you signed a contract before or after the trial. If you sign one before, perhaps put in a clause that the HMUA will be compensated for a trial if you decide to find someone different after the trial. Generally speaking, if you don't like them and they are part of a salon, call the manager and ask for someone new. Explain the situation and be constructive, not negative. Personally I didn't sign a contract til I had the trial for that reason (picked one artist the first time and actually changed to a different salon/artist). I also wouldn't lay out the $$ until you sign the contract.

ETA: I paid the first artist a trial price, and hadn't yet signed any contract. I didn't feel terrible not using her because I didn't "rip her off."

I'm paying $70 for my hair and wouldn't go much higher than that. Nothing above $100. The style I want includes extensions (which I am buying), but is mostly down and just curls with a hair wire. No makeup, never have worn it in my life.

I'm willing to pay $100 each for hair and makeup (after I decided not to go with original MUA who did a terrible job), but so far haven't found anyone Smiley laugh

My wedding day styling is $300 for hair and makeup, and the trial is the same price. So I guess I am willing to pay $600 for my look.

I'm a licensed cosmetologist and a few things..

    1. If you had a trial period with a package and you didn't connect or like the stylist you don't have to use her at all, that's why it's a trial. Unless you signed a contract...

    2. Every hairstylist will be different prices and it highly varies depending on the difficulty of style. So the more difficult and high fashion style will be $$$

    3. Some hairdressers are contracted to only do hair in the salon, and some will come out to your location (important to ask). Also if they're traveling to your venue ask if they include a travel few (some do and some don't).

    4. Also it can't hurt to ask if there are certain things they need you to have or do.

    5. To avoid any future stylist issues ask if they have a portfolio or pictures so you have an idea if you will like their style of work or not. This saves you that awkward moment of (I really hate my hair but don't want to hurt her feelings during a trial period)

    6. Most of all make sure you like the person doing the hair and that you connect/ really like their work.

    Good luck! (:

For bridal hair I'm willing to spend $200. That must include traveling fee and her tip. I will not be doing a trial tho.

Personally, my H/mu budget is shamefully small. My priority with planning has been guest experience so now all decorations, flowers, and pampering like this is taking a serious hit. Still trying to work out having them done. Thankfully I have a lot of time to work out all the gritty details and try to save a little more for it.

You have to be willing to pay for what you get. I don't go to the most exclusive salon but I got to one of the top 5 in my area. Pricing all depends on the stylist level at my salon. Platinum stylist doing wedding hair starts at $175.00 and goes up based on complexity, hair texture, and length. Between myself, BP, mothers, godmothers, and grandmother's I am going to have about 15 ladies in the salon. Not everyone will get a platinum stylist that day but I am going to be dumping a major chunk of cash for the ones I love. That is why when I have apts now I buy the salon gift cards extra to have for the big day so I am not caught off guard.

With bridal hair and makeup you get what you pay for, but the actual cost varies so much by area. I'm in atl. I paid about $150 for day of hair, just 1/2 up with curls (plus another 150 for my extensions that he made me) and $250 for day of makeup... they are on the higher end for my area, but generally hate my hair when done by typical bridal stylists, so I knew I was willing to splurge to get the look I wanted. and SO glad I did. If someone is trying to make you sign a contract before a trial, RUN. that's not who you want to work with.

ETA: these were day of prices. trials were separate costs.
