How much are y'all spending on catering?

Just curious how much I should estimate for catering. I'm currently trying to decide between two venues. One offers in house catering and the other does not. Other than that, they're completely similar in what they offer. So my dilemma is that I'm trying to compare apples to apples by calculating...

So my dilemma is that I'm trying to compare apples to apples by calculating catering into the price, but I'm not sure how much people are spending in the Houston area on catering?

Anyone mind letting me know how much you budgeted? I'm only having about 80 people or so. Thanks in advance!! Smiley smile

    $99/pp includes:

    Cocktail Hour:

    8 passed hors d'oeurvres

    3 stations

    Open Bar

    Reception:

    Soup/Salad

    Entree

    Starch

    Vegetable

Wedding cake (through outside vendor, associated with my venue)

    Another dessert option

    Open bar

Centerpieces, uplighting, and an ice sculpture were also included. I got a really good deal while my venue was running a special.

I'm in New England. Ours is $57 a person for food (this is with apps, 2 buffet entrees and 2 stations) and $28 a person for full open bar. Plus 27% for service and tax. It works out to about $17,000 dollars for 170 people. Half my budget.

Mine is $106 a plate for 2 passed around trays and a cheese /bread table plus a 3 course entree along with coffee/tea and refreshments. it also includes the caterers setting up and tearing down. They provide all linens, glasses, plates, flatware, and run the bar.

Our alcohol we will be purchasing at Costco.

Ours is $45 per person for steak and chicken. Then an additional $900 for hor d'ouerves ($150 per 50 pieces). Our cake is $500 and our bartender is $150 plus the cost of alcohol. We also had to pay for all of the tables/chairs/glasses/etc but that was pretty negligible.

Wow! Crazy range in prices! I really appreciate you guys. That helps a lot. I'm looking to spend on the lower side without compromising on the food quality so we will see what I find. Budget is a huge thing, so it may be easier to go with the all inclusive venue but we will see! Smiley smile

I'm in North Florida and we are doing a BBQ buffet. For the food, servers, and pit master it's about 17pp. I still have to buy my own dinnerware which will be a couple hundred via amazon. But this price doesn't include alcohol.

The minimum for our reception hall is $4,500 (food & alcohol).

That number will probably be close to $6,000 though. About $23pp for food and another $20pp for alcohol.

I think food and bev will end up being 3/5 of our budget, possibly more honestly

Food and alcohol for 130 people will be ~$14,000 at my not all inclusive venue. Had full license to choose any vendors. Alcohol is 5 hours full open deluxe bar. Food is an upscale farm-to-table type caterer with as much local food as possible. A high cost of living outdoorsy locale.

We're spending about 4.5k for 170ish people. We're also doing bbq so it's cheaper than a lot of other options. That also doesn't include apps because we can't make up our minds ha.

Queens, NY wedding and we're spending roughly $100/pp for:

Cocktail Hour: 5 passed apps and a charcuterie board

    Dinner: 3 robust food stations

Dessert and coffee/tea (the dessert is choco dipped strawberries, but they are being hand-dipped by a server as they are requested, so no sweaty berries at my wedding, no way no how!)

All necessary rentals (linens, dishes, bar-ware, etc.)

We are providing our own drinks and they are providing the bartender.

We are getting the cake from a local bakery and they will cut it for us.

I feel like we got a really good deal, especially because the food at the tasting was AMAZEBALLS.

My catering is around 185-195 a person. It's plated and includes cake, open bar, and tableside service!

Our catering for dinner, non alcoholic drinks and appetizers is about $60 a person. Our alcoholic drinks and cake are separate and an addition $2,000. We can bring in our own catering and alcohol, which saves a lot.

We are spending a little under $4000 for 150 people. But that's just dinner, not cake and drinks.

We spent $95 pp without the inclusion of the 20 children (at $40 each) plus tax and 20% gratuity for our 175 guests. I hope everyone enjoys themselves, fully

For meal, my venue off-season food pricing is between 55/pp and 85/pp, depending on your choices. The in season prices are $10 more PP, so $65-$95 PP, not including tax and service fees.
