I'm considering tossing out the whole garter toss thing. I really hate when a groom goes under dress in front of tons of people. Especially little kids and hearing explanation after that. With that I'm considering tossing out both how many people would u think could be upset by this. I know its my day but if I have to do a bouquet toss to keep ladies happy I will. But garter ain't happening unless fiance says he really wants to do it but sure he will be on my side. Opinions on this please

Don't feel bad if you don't want to do either of these. No one will miss them. For my part, I am keeping the bouquet toss because I like it, and we're still discussing the garter toss. Although, if we keep the latter, he won't be going up my dress with his teeth. We also discussed the idea of eliminating the whole "single people" thing and just offering neat prizes for whomever catches them.

FH and I have been against the garter toss from the very beginning. There was barely even a contemplation of us doing it, lol. We also decided against a bouquet toss, but for a completely different reason. We’re about seventy guests at our wedding and may be the last wedding out of our group of friends so there will be barely any singles there. I know it’s supposed to be light hearted, but I also don’t like the idea of rounding up singles on the dance floor for everyone to see. Some people want to be single, lol.

Maybe instead of that if you wanted a funny game and interaction you could do a who said it, or who knows the couple best, or like the newlywed game

I’m not doing either. The garter tosses are cringey, and I don’t want to do the bouquet toss.

Instead we are doing an anniversary dance dance and giving a bouquet to the longest married couple.

I'm not doing either because I have always found the garter toss to be cringey and the bouquet toss a little humiliating. Though I have seen both at plenty of weddings, no one in my friend group is done them - maybe because we all got married post 30? Practically speaking, we just don't have many single guests. I am not a fan, though, of tossing a small fake flower bouquet when the bride carried a gorgeous real one. IMO, It kind of takes away the spirit of giving from it.

We did a garter removal. It was fun!

One of my friends really really wanted the garter so she went for it while I was sitting in a chair and my fiance held my hand and we cracked up.

We didn't toss it, she just kept it.

Me too. Ugh I was forced to do this from the time I was 12 until I was 16. Hated it every time.

I'm skipping both. Don't like them not doing them. My dad hopes I will change my mind but he also knows me and know I won't.

Even though I'm doing a bouquet toss. I went to a wedding about 3 years ago and I was not engaged at the time. When the bride did the bouquet toss, I did not get up.

Hate the garter toss, I will be glad when that dies.

I noticed that also. The bride has a beautiful bouquet but throw a raggery, scraggy bouquet that looks like crap. That's why I'm doing a beautiful, full, heavily ornamented bouquet that I'm tossing and any woman will be happy to catch it, it will look just a nice as my own only a little smaller.

We are leaving out both! Our reasoning is more along the lines of wanting to avoid too many organized events. To each their own, but i feel like some weddings there is just too much happening - grand entrance for the whole wedding party, then 3-5 different first dances, then a billion speeches, then everyone stop and watch cake cutting, then over here for bouquet toss then garter toss, etc. When do you get to relax and enjoy the party, because before you know it the night is gone. It is personal preference and by all means follow what traditions are important to you; for us we would be happier by leaving them out. (Also saves some $$ not spending extra on a throw away bouquet and garter)

Yes we have decided to not do either. We feel like it should be a fun night for all Olathe people there. And with being such a large resort with tons to do. We figure we will all just have fun that night

Throwing lengerie in front of children would make you a pedophile and riding up your skirt and doing that stuff in front of family would make you incestuous
