How many stems/flowers are in your bouquet?

Karen, on July 10, 2014 at 1:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

I have met with a couple florists to order bulk flowers to do our own arrangements. I want something big and bold but not too over powering. I'm not petite but my dress is all lace and I don't wan to take away from that with the flowers. One florist said 12 roses, 12 carnations and some filler hypericum berries/greenery. The other florist said that will be huge and that I should do 6-8 roses and 8 carnations with filler.

So how big are your bouquets? Bonus points if you are making your own bouquet!

Thanks!

My bouquet will have 36 hand made duck tape roses, carnations, and these weird star shape ones I designed.

I think mine has somewhere between 15-20 total....they're fake silk flowers.

I have about 4 dozen wooden roses in mine, but no other flowers.

I am technically making my own (ordering flowers in bluk). I am using pre-made "centerpieces/bouquets" that include 15 stems of various flowers and I will be adding about 5 carnations to each to give them some color. ... But that will depend on how they look as I am going. Also, I will making mine bigger than the BMs so probably add a little more.

The plan is for three hydrangea blooms and some filler.

Not sure of stem count but it'll be 10" diameter. BM will have 8" bouquets

Mine will be a single orchid laying on top of my grandma's bible; just like my mom and grandma!

I think I read that it's typically 12-18 stems, but depends on the types of flowers. 12 roses and 12 carnations does sound like a gigantic bouquet...

I am holding a large bouquet- about 40-45 roses in total. All fuschia! Tightly bound and no greenery.

I'm making my own rose bouquet and will have 25-30 roses. The bridesmaids will have 15-20.

I think mine was in the 20 range. I thought it was small compared to most that I've seen but that's how I wanted it.

Completely depends on what kinds of flowers are being used. Hydrangea are much bigger than roses are, so you would need less stems.

Example of an average bridal bouquet (I was a florist for the past 4 years): 24-30 roses (small being maybe like 18 roses)

Average bridesmaids: 12-15 roses, small but too small would be like 9 roses, IMO

Mine will have 2 white jumbo hydrangea with 3 pale pink peonies and 6 ivory roses

The bridesmaids will have 3 full/open hot pink peonies with 3 stems of hot pink spray roses and 3 stems of pale pink stock.

Ok ladies...first sorry for the sideways picture.

Here are the roses I am thinking of using. Saw them at the florist and fell in love and I think adding burgundy carnations will tone down the orange. This is 8 of them after one day of letting them open up. She said they could get even bigger after letting them open for 3-4 days.

Imagine it filled in with carnations. Do you think that will big and bold enough? I'm thinking not... :/

I think it looks about the right size if I imagine it filled in with carnations. If you feel it's too small just add a few more roses or some greenery?

A dozen of each would be too many. What about just adding the burgundy hypericum berries? I think that would be plenty! Very beautiful roses, by the way!

Here's a link that I am going to live by when doing our bouquets: http://apracticalwedding.com/2013/06/bright-oversized-wedding-bouquet-diy/

They used about 20-25 stems total.
