How many stems to put on a table?

ExampleHow many stems to put on a table? 1

We have 8 foot rectangular tables for our reception. It's a relaxed barn setting with the wood and the lights, etc. Anyway, my vision is a whole bunch of greenery (not a garland) arranged on the table with mercury glass votives and other, taller candles propped throughout. We're doing a national parks theme so there'll be a sign for the park and a photo of us at it also.

I've scoured the internet and canNOT figure out how many stems or bunches I'll need at each table. I'm looking into eucalyptus (seeded & silver dollar) and ruscus, but open to other greens. Has anyone else done this? How much did you need? Where'd you get it from? Thank you!

If you don't get other suggestions here, maybe buy a bunch and lay it out on a 2' section of a table until you get the fullness you want, and then multiply that by 4?

Super pretty inspiration picture, simple but lovely!

Sam's has a good selection of fillers and greenery that would work for you. The length of your tables will have a major effect on how much you need. If you have access to the same length table, why not buy the greenery you like from a local source and play with it until you get a look you like. You'll then know how many stems of each type of greenery you'll need per table.

That's what I'm leaning toward! I am just a little nervous that I won't be able to buy the same greens locally that I plan to order. I guess it's time for a hunt!

I originally was going to do something similar but am now doing hanging centerpieces. I talked to my florist and eucalyptus comes by weight so she got me 2 bunches so I tested and made one 8ft piece with 1 bunch. I wanted to figure how much $ per table I was looking at too! I totally recommend doing a test run!!

I am thinking of doing the same thing. Question though, are your tables banquet tables with linens? or Farm table with no linen? I am wondering if it would be more cost effective to just rent banquet tables and cover them to get this look.

I have 8' plastic and laminate folding tables. I'm going to have white tablecloths on my tables. There's wood all around so no need to have it on the tables. I have seen tutorials on how to wrap a basic folding table with wood to get a fancy look but I think it'd be quite a bit of work to do that with enough tables for a wedding, sorry!

I think we went with 15 Israeli Ruscus and maybe 7 leatherleaf? I did end up doing a trial run on our dining room table.

I bought greens from Trader Joe’s to try them out and ended up ordering from Sam’s club. I got 400 stems of ruscus and 10 bunches of leatherleaf and we had WAY more than we needed.

Here is a picture of the venue, we set the greens up the day before and they ended up being fine:

I don’t think those tables were 8ft more like 5-6ft.
