I guess my initial reaction would be that your DJ should be able to take care of that for you. But if you need a definitive answer, I would say that your list should cover things for you. If you have 125 guests, and you think you'll dance with about 75% of them, averaging 30 seconds each, you'd need about 10 songs. That should be MORE than enough.

I agree that the DJ should handle this. The last wedding I shot, had all the groomsmen from Panama. Those guys could dance! One of them danced an entire song, not slow normal dollar dancing, but a modern hip-hop influenced dance. It was quite entertaining to watch. You really have no way of knowing how long or how short for that matter it is going to go.

Thanks but our our dj who we met with yesterday said its up to us....my guess WE need to make a list.......plus kind of pissed bc since arent doin the wedding party song (noone does that anymore and noone in our party knows each other except two of them and also the jr bm and jr groomsmen) and i guess that means no enterance song right for me and fh?.....also since his granparents passed away and his dads gf/fiancee is invited but he dont feel comfy dancing with her or having her as a stepmom bc his real mom and stepmom arent going to be there so no introduction of the parents or anything that pissed me off oh well

A rough metric is 18 songs per hour, but aren't you going to be rather tired after all that non-stop dancing?

Again, the DJ should be able to find appropriate music IF your list isn't long enough. As far as ANY activity done during the reception, it is totally up to you. The bridal party dance fell out of favor a while ago. You're not alone in your thinking.

Have fun with your reception. Do what YOU want to do and make sure the DJ is aware of YOUR wishes and intends on honoring them.

"how many songs do u need for the moneydance?"

I thought it was only one song. You start off dancing with your hubby and then someone cuts in for 1$ and every few seconds (if you have a lot of people) someone else randomly cuts in with 1$. So at the end of the song you have about 15$ each.

Yea ususally everyone does put a dollar in. the bride and groom stand by each other and then there is a line whoever wants to dance with who they dance around once or twice and then the nexxt person and so on and so on etc. (thas how i remember from going to and being in a few weddings. plus was recently at my friends wedding in aug). plus if u do a shot its another dollar (i think thas how it was at my buddies wedding). thres going to be a long line for the bride lol!

It depends, but 2 - 3 should be more than enough. If you drag it out too long, the people who have already participated will be bored.

When we do the Money Dance, we usually only have the bride and groom pick two songs: the first song for sure, and then a second song if there's still a line. We are on the microphone for most of the money dance encouraging others to cut in. My hubby (we DJ as a team) will make fun comments about the best man dancing with the groom, etc., and also say stuff like "Oh it looks like the bride's getting bored, somebody needs to cut in!" stuff like that. One person dancing a whole song for the money dance seems way too long! If you have it go more than two songs, a lot of guests will start to think you are greedy for money, and also get really bored! In our experience, 1 or 2 songs is plenty, no matter how many guests!

Tell your DJ that you want him/her to encourage people to cut in to help with the flow of it. Usually 20 to 30 seconds MAX per guest dancing is plenty! ESpecially if there's a long line!

Another thing (I ran out of room haha Smiley smile ) :

Sometimes we encourage the couple to pick one slow song and one fast song. That way those that only dance slow can still participate, and those that want to have fun and dance faster can also do that.

Here's a song list we put together of songs about money, if you want to go that route. You don't have to, but sometimes it's fun!:

For general dancing we suggest 20 songs. For the money/dollar dance

we suggest keeping it to 15 mins or 5 songs, if you don't limit this dance it will eat up time for fast or up-tempo dancing.
